I read a the question by T Alewy.
Crazily, somthing almost identical happened to me, I was on a bus on valentines day going home with my partner who is pregnant. A group of youths at the back of the bus were being noisey and chatting away. One of them kept screaming as loud as he could to frighten people, I approached them and asked them to "please be quiet" as they were frightening people and my partner was pregnant. I was told to "f-ck off coon" by a female and some of the guys.
I got angry and asked them to step off the bus they declined and I sat back down - they got off the bus and I went home.
A few weeks later, the same goth female youth saw me walking on the street and called me "f-cken coon, f-cken loser," and a paedophile (this hurt as she insuated I was going to do this to my unborn child). I told her to piss off and walked away.
Last night I ran into the same girl and she was again abusive and laughing about the previous occurances with a friend - I walked in to a star mart and purchased a soda. I saw her, and spilt my drink on her and walked off. She hit me a few times - I just kept walking and called "police help me!"
I managed to create distance and got in a cab and went home. I called the police and reported the incident.
How serious would the conviction be if she decided to press charges?
What should I do?

Assault consists of words or actions that put the victim in fear of impending serious injury.
Battery is any offensive touching.
The punishment for simple battery would depend on the state, but for a first time offense would usually be probation and/or community service, assuming the DA even thought it was worth her while to try the case. |

An assalt is when you casue someone to be scared like raise your fist but not actually hit them you just scared them
What you did would be counted as (assault) battery, but you just threw a drink she was obviously being abusive and frankly i can't believe you didn't do anything else hun,
she commited a battery by hitting you, i'm definitely sure if she presses charges this will go no where as you'll just tell the police your version of events including the night before and trust me no judge will take this on, if anything you'll get a caution :) don't worry just be honest your side is much believable from where am standing |

don't really know, but I have to comment about you getting up and talking to these kids on the bus.. as much as you wanted to help, it really was not your place.. yes, they were wrong in the way they were acting. but it was up the bus driver to ask them to stop and/or leave the bus..
They were trying to get a reaction out of people and it worked.. |
