I want to be a correctional officer..and am studying alot about it.I just wanted to get some detailed answers on what an inmates day is usually like in a detention center.
Additional Details
the facility nearest to me is the monroe detention center housing minimum security inmates.

depends on where you are located. Each day is very site specific. |

go and ask, that would be the easiest way. Depending where you are located, geographically, it can be as mundane as watching paint dry or as exciting as a ride on a roller coaster without the seat belt. You could be on gate duty one day, checking out cars and working with the K9 people, to access control watching and allowing guards and prisoners to pass through different areas, to TRG (tactical response group) where you respond to high risk incidents such as riots. Only way to find out is ask the people face to face that work in the environment every day, so take yourself along to your local center and ask if you can speak to the people there. |
