forgery is when you sign someone else's name to something. like take school for example. Lets say you have to get a test signed because you got an "F". If you don't want to get in trouble with your parents, you'll look at something else your parents signed and use it to try and write it the same way.
It's the same with like checks! If someone else gets a hold of your check book, they can sign it as you, and then take as much money out of your bank account as they want. That's why it's illegal. You aren't aloud to hack someone else's bank account or anything for that matter. This is also called fraud.

A forgery is a fake. It can be a signature or an item. It's only illegal if there's fraud involved. Making a copy product and marketing it as the original is illegal. Making a copy product that infringes on patents or copyright is illegal. Making a copy product that doesn't violate patent or copyright and is marked as a different brand is perfectly legal.
Using another person's signature for personal gain or fraud such as passing bad checks or signing legal documents is illegal.
I can print a copy of paper money at home, it's legal. Trying to use it to buy something is illegal. |
