What is it like doing time in prison?

-----Here is a book that may help you: "Behind Bars / Surviving Prison" by Jeffrey Ross & Stephen Richards, 2002, Alpha Press, 219 pages, with Index, and "Slammer Slang: A Glossary", US$14.95, CAN$22.99. I found many copies--this week--in a used book store; the city library also has many copies. I have had no experience with jails and prisons, but I recommend the book for anyone with any interest in the subject. I think it is a must-read for anyone going to jail or prison; it could easily keep them alive. One of the authors has been on a prison staff; the other is an ex-con. There is also a chapter on connets: "We Ain't No Debutantes: Women Behind Bars." The book also includes information on what to say, and not say, when in contact with the police. It covers everything from busted to parole, inclusive. ---Jim

in order for you to really know what its like. you would have to go in and find out. everyones prison time is driffrent. what i mean by diffrent is by who you are and what you have done. Prison can be a vary hars place for anyone. its what you make out of your time in prison.

You have risks from prisoners and guards. Rape / Death are common everyday happenings. Verbal abuse and Lousy food. It is not designed to be a pleasant place. I toured Alcatraz (near San Francisco) years ago and the cells for prisoners are tiny. They really are like dog cages for humans.

You can make the most of any situation. Prisons offer opportunities for the "guests" to get involved in stuff. That is the best way to make the time productive.

I've never been in prison. But thinking of being confined inside a small four walled corners is hell. Don't mess with your life please.

Well as its a place for all the degenerates from all walks of our Society I dont know as I havent been in one as an inmate but rather someone that put people in them.
From what I can say its home from home except the only girlfriend you will have is your cell mate if you dont mind sharing bunks....well you wouldnt have a choice...
