I did a small stint in jail b4 *county jail, It on a whole wasn't too bad but than again it wasn't the penitentiary, but I was in kind of like a dorm like think there was cells on the perimeter, in the middle was tables, and there was a TV we had cards and other games, we got to play basketball ever other day, the food was horrible, so your always hungry the whole time your there, you have to go to bed at ten thirty I think maybe it was eleven,. A great show to watch to gain a good perspective is the locked up series on msnbc. it was dirty in there and graffiti all over the walls. not a good place to be My charges that I did that time for were dropped , |

i toured alcatrez. it's really a dive. very small rooms / not for the claustrophobic type of a person.
watch burt reynolds , the longest yard . it's probobly a good overview of the system. only you won't get an opportunity to beat the crap out of the guards on the football field LOL.
you know the food has got to be lousy . who can eat at a cafeteria 21 x a week. you need some ethnic dining / fast food and fine dining experiences for variety. |

Ive been to visit someone in prison and it was horrible and u get loads of security checks before u go in.. never been an inmate though! |

I wouldn't know, why dont you try writing a letter to someone who is in jail just now. They might write back and tell you all about it and you never know it might lead to marriage. |

it depends on if its a federal or a state prison. federal has better everything, the worst part is being away from your family and your home and having to live with al kinds of people you may not like. it also depends if its a low level or high level prison. low level you have more freedom. just mind your own business and do something constructive and to better yourself, to pass the time like getting into shape by walkingor running. if you have the chance take some kind of classes. use the time to try to do something good for yourself so at least you get something out of it. also it depends on where they put you but you might be in a dorm or a cell. |

Although I have not been incarcerrated.....I have seen the inside of many jails from small county jails up to large jails like Rikers Island which is literary an island city in NYC & is so large that visitors & inmates ( who are needed for court appearances, etc. ) are transported around the grounds by bus. No weapons are allowed in any prison so all visitors are searched & even law enforcement officers must unload & surrender their firearms as they visit a prison & their firearms are returned to them as they leave prison. Most jail cells are very small & contain a toilet ( usually stainless steel ) which affords the inmate no privacy when they use the toilet....Many jails have regular inspections conducted by correction officers for contraband such as weapons ( most of which are homemade ), narcotics, etc. . Larger jails often do everything possible to discourage gang activity which is very active in many jails so the wearing of colors ( even bead colors ) such as gold for the Latin Kings & red for the Bloods is banned....Some jails experience numerous assaults between inmates & some like Rikers exist where so few correction officers guard such an enormous inmate population that all of the officers have to be more on guard as to their own safety.....There are librariies, TVs & recreation yards but its not a fun place to be. |

Went to jail for a DUI fell asleep and when awoke I was in a little room with 10 woman all who smelled bad the toliet was right there and it made people sick. There's nothing to do but eat awful food and talk with the other people. And wait to make bail. |
