I'm a cop. Cadets don't get issued pepper spray or ANY weapons until after they graduate. They sometimes however get a stinger to carry if they are doing scenarios that particular day with a SIM gun. Other than that, they have cuffs, a pouch for rubber gloves, empty magazine pouches, a holster with a red plastic replica of a gun, flashlight holder rings (I doubt they get to cary a flashlight in academy unless for a scenario), Radios are only for scenarios too. |

Radio, handcuffs, pepper spray, flashlight (if nightime), gloves.
Fiveseven: I guess it all depends on what state you are in. In my state, I have seen cadets in the academy and on the streets doing a required ride-along with a veteran officer(s). They carry exactly what I have stated while doing these ride-along. They do not carry holsters or magazine pouches since they do not carry firearms. |
