I want to become a Police officer. I know there is a fitness test. I am fit but I haven't trained much the past 6 months. What does the test require? up until 6 months ago I used to jog 5 days a week and bike ride for miles. Do you think that I need to build up my fitness to a high level again?

As far as I'm aware, the fitness test is the same throughout england and wales. It consists of the following:
A bleep test run to level 5.4 which is a steady jog where you are just breaking a sweat although they do expect you to run until exhaustion.
A push pull test where you do 3 practice reps and then 5 'proper' reps and need to reach an average score of 34kg and 35kg, I can't remember which is the pull and which is the pull limit though (sorry).
The only thing you may struggle with (but I doubt it) is the push pull test as this is the thing that ladies sometimes struggle with (no disrepect intended) as the strength needed is something that you may need to work on and doesn't come naturally with women. Most blokes tend to do around the 80kg mark.
Apart from that there's nothing more. |

most police departments require a minimum standard entry exam of being able to press 75% of your body weight. |

Contact the police and ask what their fitness test is forces around the country have varied test. |

Each agency has a different testing.
Usually situps @ 30 in 2 min
Pushups @ 30 In 2 min
1 1/2 mile run in 15 min
Some have an agilty course of:
A car push 10' with occupant (simulation car in intersection)
balance beam 10' to see if you can walk on a narrow area and keep balance
window crawl - go thrugh a normal house window as only entry way
5' chain link fence- climb over to other side
150 lb dummy pull of 20' -rescue from a building, street fight, shootout etc.
Course to be done within 15 min. (Oh fall off balance beam start back at beams start again.
Check with the agency nd the job announcement should contain the test to be given.
If not then ask the department what do i need to practice on? |
