Officers not showing up for court is for the most part a myth. If he doesn't show, but has a valid excuse, they will reschedule.

An officer can be disciplined for missing court, and the District Attorney does not appreciate it. Most officers do not want to upset the DA.

For an example, an officer will write tickets for a week, spend a few days in the office, and the court will schedule all the appearances for those tickets on the same day. This way the officer can use his time effectively, and is not running back and forth to the courtroom all the time. However, maybe some officers don't care and are not that busy. After all this is a civil service job where efficiency is sometimes punished!

You can increase the odds of an officer not showing up by trying to reschedule the court date. If you can get a day of your choosing, it's possible the officer will not show. You have nothing to lose except for the delay.

from what i heard most state troopers show up in court when requested. i found the best thing to do if its your first offense is just go to court and tell the truth to the judge and hopefully get a deferral. i was doing 32 in a school zone and i got a deferral.

hope hes there cause you seem to be gambling that he willnt show so you get let off not going to court because your not guilty.

Trust me he will be there ...or else they will re-schedule the court date or time so that he can be there.

Chances are zero.

It's part of his job and if he fails to show up, he'll be disciplined by his agency.

Second, if something SHOULD occur that causes him not to be present, the judge will reset your case to another date.

And, no... citations don't get dismissed in Fairfax County because cops don't show up... it's an urban legend.

In all areas, it's part of our job and we will be there. If we have an emergency, the prosecuting attorney will make a motion to the court to reset the case....

Pay the fine and quit whining.

I love it. Another "if the cop doesn't show they reschedule" baloney.

They will just reschedule if he doesn't show. So now instead of just paying it going to traffic school and not having it on your record, you're going to lose the case, have court costs on top, have the point on your record for your insurance to jack up your rates.

Your best bet is to contact the courts and ask them these questions. They are the ones who will process your ticket and will know all the laws and regulation. You should also ask the courts if you are allowed to take a driving school class. This will prevent your insurance from going up and points from being placed on your license. Just make sure you get the courts permission before doing so. If you donâ€™t the courts will reject your driving school certificate. Good luck!

i have had numerous traffic tickets i have TRIED to fight in the past and every time the officer whas either their or they waited for the officer to get their before my case . unless you have good solid evidence to back your case you will proably be found guilty and pay a fine . being this is your first ticket you may be lucky and put on a 1 year driving probation basically , if you dont get anymore driving violations this ticket wont even appear on your record . take it from me tickets get very expensive if you dont slow down , especially that one i got for doing 92 in a 70 , that whas costly.
