I got charged and on my paper it says :
'' Crown considering custody'' Im 17
On my friend's paper it says
''Crown considering jail'' hes 18, what is the differance? does that mean when i turn 18 i go to jail??

"Custody" refers to any deprivation of liberty. It could be a minute in handcuffs in the back of a patrol car, life in prison, a couple months in jail or juvenile hall or anything else. Jail is a place in which one can be held in custody for a relatively short time, either awaiting trial or as a sentence of less than a year. |

What does the crown mean? Is that the name of the prosecutor or judge or something ?
Custody of a minor could mean boys home, or foster care. Jail means exactly that. |

Jail is when they make you wear those jumpsuit-thingeys.
Custody is just standing around in a cell and watching them drink coffee and eat too many donuts. |
