I'm just curious as to the difference between doing something illegal to a regular man than to a policeman.
Say somone punched a man in the face. And another man punched a policeman in the face.
What would their penalty be?
Or say a woman kicked a man in the groin. And another woman kicked a policeman in the balls.
What would the penalty difference be, if there is any?
I mean, why are the fines any worse if its a policeman? Is it just because they have authority? Doesn't that mean if a woman kicked her boss in the crotch, she would have more of a penalty for doing that than kicking some other guy in the groin. Because the boss would be in a high position of society, too?
(Although, I'm guessing the penalty is more for doing something like hurting a policeman because it needs to reinforce their status, so that it isn't encouraged, but eh.)

Because a police officer is conducting official business and states have decided to make it a more serious crime to assault an officer. It has nothing to do with reinforcing their status. It has all to do with respect and that is another reason why the states have made such a crime a felony. |
