What is the "Career Expectancy" of an FBI agent?

I want to go to the Coast Guard Academy, do my Five years, and than get out and join the FBI. i figure that i would be about 27 when i apply.... I think that is a little old to apply, or maybe its just me. Any insight would be fantabulous. Thanks.

The Coast Guard Academy is a four year college, so i would be out of the coast guard in 5 years, and apply to the FBI academy at 27.

You seem to be on a good track. Your age will not be a problem and should assist you in some of the tests due to having a little more maturity than younger applicants.
If you focus on the law enforcement aspects of the Coast Guard, you should have more experience than some of the other applicants to the FBI. However, the FBI favors people with college educations. If you are starting the Coast Guard at 22, it suggests you have some college and that would be great. If you don't, go to school part time while in the Coast Guard.
The funny thing about the FBI, they really, really like people with accounting degrees. They investigate lots of money crimes, so that type of education is really helpful. Public administration and business administration are also good courses of education to take. |
