I think this tazer thing is getting out of hand. Just because a tazer is 'non-lethal', it should not be used willy nilly. Talk about a police state in progress. |

if they didn't know then it wasn't really their fault--if she was doing something wrong- but if they did know than thats just horrible |

Absolutely shocking!!! |

I watched the video on tv & later heard that the police officer had no idea she was pregnant, as she was wearing a heavy winter coat. She never mentioned being pregnant during the incident or after, until later. She wanted to hand her little child to the police officer but he only wanted to talk to her, when she stood up & started walking away, ignoring the police officer. The story is unfolding & is being investigated. Many here are so quick to bad mouth the police officer but get your facts straight before you judge him. |

It sounds shocking. After all, a pregnant women poses no threat to the cops. |

That's horrible! I hadn't heard, but I'm going to look up the story! |

The Nazis invented torture by electric shock but the US perfected it. Now we give psychopathic police officers these fun toys to use on us. BRILLIANT!!!
My uncle was a highway patrolman, the tough Texan kind. The kind of cop you don't want to meet at like 3AM coming home from somewhere you should not have been. I was always scared that he was going to get me one day lol! He would never have used a taser on someone. This is just getting ridiculous. |

She went in, wanted to give the cops the child she was holding in her hands, but then wouldn't answer the cop when he asked for more information on her and the child.
The then became distraught and tried to run away, and the cops, likely believing that the woman was having a mental crisis, and that the child might be in danger, stopped her, took the child from her arms, and did what they did in order to restrain her.
It prevents her from harming herself or the officers. Why should they risk their own safety in such an instance? So arm-chair cops won't tsk! tsk! at them? Get real!
----------
The fact is that trying to physically restrain someone who is fighting against that retraint is like to end in physical injury to the person being restrained, with injury to the restrainers, too.
I knew a guy, 5'3" and 120lbs soaking wet, who went berserk, and it took 3 large strong men to restrain him, not without injury, either, minor though it was. |

I think they're getting a little carried away with tazering people, dangerously so!!! |

Cops just can't wait to taze someone. They love how it puts people into extreme pain so quickly. I don't believe a tazer was necessary. |

What is the linchpin that holds ALL taser cases together?
THE SUSPECT'S LACK OF COMPLIANCE
What kind of woman refuses to comply when she is pregnant and her ******* kid is right there? I think child services should take her kids.
Not to mention the woman never told the officers she was. |

Sounds bad until you actually read what happened.
If we take away tasers, police will have to resort to batons, choke holds and firearms.
I think the taser is a much better alternative. |

violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.... That's the second time I've quoted that this morning.
I guess we can see how competent they are. |

I wonder if the lady in the video had complied with officers -if she would have been tazered?
I am going to go out on a limb here and say no-
And wasn't she trying to give away one of her children-
From what i saw in the video- it sure didn't like she had a lot of concern for her condition either-
The link below is to another story about a pregnant woman being tazered- yet again she failed to follow instructions given by police.
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/223578_taser10.html
People ask for this kind of trouble by not respecting authority.
I have got no sympathy for folks that pick fights with cops and fail to cooperate.
I was a wild child in my younger days and had my share of exposure to the local blues- was never mistreated but then again I didn't show my a**, and I folllowed instructions.
Do as your told- you won't have to worry about being tasered. |

*LOL* Okay all you cop haters, if someone was on your porch threatening you and they had to taze them to get them off? By the way, what is wrong with abiding by the law? |

I have no knowledge yet of this case. If cops have tazered an obviously pregnant woman, they should be convicted of two counts of attempted murder. |

She got what she deserved. She could have easily avoided being tazed by signing the ticket and leaving or peacefully getting out of the car to be arrested. She turned the situation into a confrontation, not the officers. |

They are just being what they are, the bully from fifth grade. I hope she sues and they cannot be cops anymore. |

Some cops are getting taser-happy.
"U.N. declares stun guns to be instruments of torture while Taser rep says "it's not real pain." |

Where are the links? I'm sure she did something that they felt the need to taser her.
I guess they could have pepper sprayed, beat, or shot her instead. Being pregnant doesn't give you the right to ignore police. |

tazers, while sounding like a great way to substitute a non lethal option instead of guns are turning into a substitute for doing the takedowns cops are trained for in many of these situations
it went from being a last option to being the first option in many poorly led police departments |

So you're all real quick to jump on another "bad cop" story huh?
Did you watch the clip or read the story?
She did not tell officers she was pregnant, nor could they tell she was preggers due to her sweater and heavy jacket.
She resisted a lawful arrest, thus the taser was applied. End of story.
For those of you that are about to write it....I'm not defending any wrongdoing by a fellow officer, I want people to understand that all the facts are necessary before condemning someone like this.
Unless, that is, you like being the ignorant media lap dogs. |

Anyway, it was in my state :) ohio :)
I recently read a story about these cops pulling over this guy and his gf. The cops told the girl to lift her top up and expose her breasts, if she didn't, they were going to arrest her bf.
Its not the tasers fault, but the trigger happy cops.
There are some bad seeds. But in this case.
1. The woman didn't listen to the cop
2. She didn't disclose at any time that she was pregnant.
3. She resisted the police officer.
I don't care who you are, if the cop tells you to bark like a dog then you bark like a dog and follow it with "Yes Sir". People have too much of a smart mouth on them and don't listen with their ears.
I think the cop used the appropriate amount of force for the type of resistance that was done. I'd hate to be a cop. |

Thats not cool at all, they could have harmed the baby, and there are other ways to get someone to cooperate with the law (especially someone whos pregnant!) than using force like that. |
|

Kimberly

This is terrible. Surely they could restrain her without shocking her innocent baby and possibly causing death or some other problems like early labor, etc. |

tazers should only be used as a last resort, they can cause major injures and death and there have been cases of epileptic people receiving many shocks after having secures. |
