What kind of trials are held in the Appellate Court?

Regular courts are courts of first jurisdiction- city courts, county courts or US and State district courts.

If you don't like the verdict in these "lower" courts you can "appeal" the ruling to the "appellate cour"t also known as the "court of appeals."

You really need to be more specific, it varies from state to state at that level. NY's Court of Appeals is the highest court in the state, for example, rather than the supreme court.
