What should I major in [in college] if i want to be a detective?

i'm thinking of becoming a P.I. or some kind of detective, and i did some research on the educational requirements. it seems that a college degree is required, but there aren't specifications for the type of degree and major.
what major would be useful, and what would help me get the job? intuitively, i'd say Criminology, but my school doesn't offer that program so any suggestions?

Criminal Justice with a minor in socialogy or psycology...Ask your local police department, speak with a Detective there.. |

Frankly, if you want to be a detective and your school does not offer criminology, it's time to switch schools. Do they have criminal justice? That would be alright, too. Psychology might make a good minor. Otherwise, you're wasting your time at your school if you want to be a detective. |
