look for signs to abide by the law, and don't see much except "this beach is accessible for handicapped" and "please do not disturb the seadunes, do not walk or sit on sea mangroves"
but nowhere near does it say "no alcoholic beverages allowed in beach"
and then they get a citation for having alcoholic beverages (a few beers)
do you think this is fair for those who are not familiar with city ordinances/laws?

lol it does say not to drink and drive on the highway, it says it on police cars, on the radio, etc, and the beach IS always littered with signs, but hey, we thought THIS specific beach would be different since there were no signs stating what other beach signs do state.

your sign argument won't hold, do you expect to see a sign for every law or rule? the whole beach would be littered with signs, you'd be lucky if the sun was able to shine through them all.
don't know where you are but an open container rule is a pretty basic rule where I'm from. You can always go to court and plead ignorance, you might get a break, never know. |

Generally speaking, consumption of alcohol in public places is frowned upon, if not specifically posted as illegal. So, before firing up that joint or peeing in public, ask yourself,"Could I do this on the steps of the courthouse"? |

Is is fair? Maybe not, but I don't know of any beaches where people are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages. There are no signs on the highway stating that it is illegal to drink and drive. Yet, it is illegal.
Take your punishment and realize not all laws are posted on billboards.
Next time, put your beer in a plastic cup and hide your beer. :-) |

You don't see those signs anywhere not in your neighborhood, not outside of the grocery stores nor in most other public places, yet most areas have a law forbidding public drinking, always know the laws and policies of the places you visit, most areas have a standing rule that claiming ignorance is not an excuse for breaking the law |
