It depends on the cop and how good looking you are. From what I've heard, girls who cry and seem very sorry tend to get off the hook. This doesn't work with female police officers though.
With that exception mentioned, I find that most people who respect the police officer tend to catch a break. First, when you're pulled over, gradually move over to the side and stop. Sit there straight with both your hands on the steering wheel so they can see them. Wait till they knock on your window, then lower it and let them control the situation. Always finish each response with "sir" or "ma'am". Answer honestly and don't speak loudly or make sudden movements. When they ask for your information, tell them what you are going to do (reach into your back pocket, purse, etc) and do it slowly.
Lots of cops die every year from some motorist that they pulled over, so many of them are edgy. Do everything you can not to make them nervous. Also understand why they are pulling you over and genuinely state that you'll be careful next time.
And last of all, the easiest way to not get a ticket is do not do anything that would cause a cop to pull you over. Drive safe, both your life and others are precious to many people. :) |

I did not do this intentionally. It simply happened and then, in the end, I didn't get the ticket. So, I'll share it.
I was speeding. A city patrolman pulled me over. The berm was narrow, and there was quite a bit of traffic on the highway. When he approached my vehicle, the first thing I asked was, "Am I pulled over far enough for you to be safe?" He said he was fine and proceeded with the rest of the usual procedure. At the very end, he informed me how fast I was going. I apologized. It was near the end of winter and was the first warm, sunny day, and I explained that when I opened the sunroof and turned on the radio I just got carried away. He said, "I'm giving you a friendly warning and not a ticket. Do you know why?" And I said, "Thank you. No." He said, "Because when I pulled you over your first concern was for my safety. I want you to understand the reason I pulled you over was my concern for your safety. Please continue on your way and do the speed limit." |

Be polite and don't listen to that moron who said flash them. If I pulled a woman over and she flashed me, that would guarantee her a ticket. My credibility is too important to me to let an idiot like that out of a ticket. |

A traffic stop can be initiated for several different reasons. There's no guarantee of any method working for you with any given police officer. The stories in your answers are interesting, for sure......but as for having a genuine system for avoiding the ticket? Too many variables in each situation for any answer to have validity. |

Pull over as soon as possible and get as far off the road as you can, don't make the cop have to follow you with the lights and siren on. Have your license, registration, and insurance card out when he comes to the door. At night turn the domelight on so he can see inside the car. If he asks you if you know why you were pulled over, admit your mistake and apologize.
If that doesn't work show him your t**s! |
