What will I be charged with in this case?

I am 16 & stole 2packs of cigs today at a little covenient store owned by foriengers or w.e. and they were on the counter so noone was at the counter so i ran in grabbed em' ran out and the lady was yelling come abc here i'll call police and the man got in his own car and chased me!! for like 3blocks and thats when i hid behind a garage till he passed in a back ally and then took off running the opposite direction and ditched the cigs in a dumpster and then he found me again how? idk. and stopped his car and said stop! i was like no. then he called me a mother ***u kno the rest and i was like excuse me and so i called him a f---- foreign dot head lol and said i didn't have time for this b/c the cops were coming and then i made it home and now paranoid as hell because sheriffs keep drivin by myself n $hiT its been like 2hrs since it happend. what will i be charged with if ever found between 2nite and whenever? i stole 2 things, ran from the owner, and ran home. i've never stole b4.

There are actually two questions here. What COULD you be charged with? Petty theft for taking the cigs, burglary for entering the store with the intent to take the cigs, and perhaps resisting arrest if the store owner's attempt to stop you is construed as an attempt to arrest you.

What WILL you be charged with? Probably just petty theft in violation of ORC 2913.02 (which does not have a $20 get out of jail free provision). A juvenile with no prior record would probably get probation and community service of some kind. If you are working so you have your own income, perhaps a fine as well.

If the cops are looking for you, I'd advise going to them, WITH your parents (yes, you are going to have to tell them).

If I'm reading the Ohio Property Theft laws correctly, I see they don't differ much from my own state. You obviously took something belonging to another; the value of what you took was less than a specified amount; and your intent was to permanently deprive the rightful owner.

You can be charged with Shoplifting or Theft of Property 3rd Degree in my State. It is a misdemeanor offense of which you as a juvenile can be sent to "juvenile jail" or detention. Many people think juveniles can't serve time, however, they're misled by others misunderstandings.

What WILL happen to you? You could go before a juvenile judge who will most likely have you pay restitution, place you on probation, and possibly some other "punishments."

One must also realize that when something is stolen...the cost to replace that item is passed on to the consumer which means the rest of us pay higher prices because you lacked judgement and maturity.

Not only will you be charged with shoplifting, but because you stole CIGARETTES and are under age 18, you are also a minor in possession of a controlled substance.

If you're in california you'll get a slap on the wrist. If you decide to steal again and you're caught, the police will haul you to a holding room at the station and your parents have to pick you up.

You will probably be charged with shop lifting. Not sure what the penalty could be but that is the only thing illegal you did. I would advise you to turn yourself in and the consequences will be not as harsh. Stop stealing and stop smoking. You will live longer if you quit both of them now.

I really hoped you learned a lesson..And the name calling was unnecessary at least the store owner was here legally as he owns a business he had to buy the items you stole .Grow up your 16 and your still shoplifting

you could be charged with shoplifting if the store owner can identify you and 1. called the police, and 2. wishes to proceed. He would have to appear in court for your prosecution. Don't you know that smoking is bad for your health, stealing is worse for your health and so is jail. smarten up, don't do it again and consider yourself lucky. hope you have learned a lesson

You'll be charged with misdemeanor shoplifting. Running from him and the name calling does not break any laws. You will go before the juvenile judge and will probably get probation and maybe have to do some community service. I DO hope you have learned your lesson. Also - the racist name calling was out of line. That is the sort of thing that could get you shot or seriously injured if you say it to the wrong person! Something you should think about in the future. Not to mention - smoking is certainly not worth what you are going through.

For shoplifting if the offense is lower than $250.00 the cops won't even bother. They have better things to do than pursuing "dangerous cigarette stealer's"!! Don't worry and the next time pay for them.

if your a minor it will be petty theft just deny it and try to get someone to give you a alibi on where you was at and when he says it was you just deny it we all look alike to them and they do too if your a illegal mexican dont worry about a thing we dont dare enforce laws against them but if your an american watch out they will prolly sentence yyou to 3-5 years

Most likely theft under 5000.00$Depends where you are from?also you could be charged with robbery.But i doubt it.Unless the owner has a serious beef with you.But i doubt you'll even be caught unless your on camera and you have current convictions.But if caught and convicted.Sentance could range from a small fine to a couple months in the correctional centre.Victorio Peace
