California, and New York are member of the DLA, Drivers License Agreement. The citation will be reported to the California DMV so you would receive points and get an insurance hike. It's unlikely that a warrant would be issued since they wouldn't extradite for the charge, but the possibility is always there. New York could suspend your driving privileges. If this happens, California will also suspend your license. |

There will be an "Open Capias" placed on your record - in lei-mans terms - the next time you are pulled over or checked out, a warrant will show when your information is run. |

Listen to David H and CVIV76, and ignore everybody else. If you blow the ticket off in NY, your drivers license WILL be suspended in California until you take care of it -- and it will cost you a lot more money then. |

It will come back to your home state and they will suspend your license. You should try to work out a payment plan with NY. |

Two things will happen. A $255 (minimum) warrant will be put out for you and the next time you get pulled over anywhere you will be detained until you clear it up. Second, when you try to renew your license it will be denied because of the warrant.
If California and New York have DMV resiprosity (and I am 99% sure they do) your license will be suspended for non payment after 90-180 days and this too will add to your troubles if you get pulle over again. |

You will have a warrent for your arrest because you did not pay the fine or did not failed to appear in court to appeal the summons. |

I'm sure they will give you payment plans. AND if you don't pay for it you will get A WARRANT FOR YOUR ARREST. Pay that $$$$ |

Well, I hope you don't plan on going back to New York any time soon. What will likely happen is a warrant for your arrest will be put in the NCIC (national crime computer) and it will say something like this;
Misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear on traffic citation, non-extraditable unless in XXX county or all of New York State.
What that means is, when the CHP pull you over, they will 'see' this warrant, but won't arrest you cause New York said they wouldn't come get you unless you're in a certain county in New York or simply anywhere in the state of New York.
BUT, where it WILL hurt you is; SOME heavily populated states belong to an organization that 'shares' info and honors each others licensing issues. SO IF you lost the privilege to drive in NY, it could happen in CA or TX if they are part of the organization.
OR,say you were just barely going over the speed limit, instead of a friendly warning, you'll probably get a nice ticket.
The cop will think to himself, "this guy just got his break cause he ain't going to jail on that warrant..." So you can basically kiss warnings.
If the cops in your town randomly 'run' license plates, if your driver's license ties into your plate, a cop that checks you plate for any 'issues', will 'see' that warrant and will watch you much more closely, waiting for you to violate a traffic code so he can pull you over.
I know it sounds bad, in some cases it is the best way to catch career criminals (not that you are one).
But, pay your fine as soon as possible, and the the world will be a brighter place for you :) |

It won't affect your insurance until you go to court or pay the fine (guilty plea). It's only traffic so if you get stopped, they're not going to extradite out of state on it. Just don't go back to that state and get caught by the boys in blue. |

It may get on to your record in CA, it depends if NY bothers to give them the info, for the most part it can be applied on your record there or in any state.
And you will have a bench warrant for your arrest issued in NY, if you get stopped in CA or anywhere they will know about it if they run your name, but I can't see them extraditing you for a traffic ticket, you could be hauled in while they check with NY though
But you never know.....if they are the gung-ho type, they might |

um yes and you will be issued a warrant for your arrest then if u dont take care of that it will become a fugitive warrant just pay it. |

It depends on whether California and New York have a reciprocal agreement ... such as Connecticut and Vermont have . Some states do not contact other states about driving infractions ... some do. |

In california you are required to report this to the DMV within 10 days or you can have your license suspended. The state of New York will issue a bench warrant for your arrest since your obviously not gonna go to the hearing for the ticket. |

I dont think anything will happen unless you go back to new york cause you will have a warrant there. as far as the insurance that depends on the ticket but here is a little known fact is that youre credit rating affects your insurance rate so if new york reports the debt to the credit bureau it can raise those rates as well as all other insurance rates , credit rating so on and so forth. probably not much mind you but they will raise the price of that ticket on you too so if you can just pay it so you can go back to new york without sweating |
