Well what should have happened, was you would have went and told the owner, and had your parents pay for the damage

But at this point the court will order you to pay for the damage and pay a fine.

I am not too sure. I know when a friend's ex boyfriend broke mine while she was using my car the police refused to get involved.

Best of luck dude. My advice...is stop breaking the law so you don't have to ask these questions.

The only thing I can tell you is to just be honest and stand and take the punishment.. You'll find out when you act with respect and stand up and own up to what you have done, things will always find a way to work out.. It's not easy to be honest and take accountability for your mistakes, whether or not it was on accident or not, but when you do you will earn the respect of everyone involved.. That includes the respect you will have for yourself.. Just be honest is all i can say..

Sounds like you have a conscience.. That's a good thing and I only wish more kids today would.. Tell ya what if you broke my mirror but came to me and owned up to it.. I'd tell you thank you for being honest with me.. and that's the last word you'd hear about it.. Just the fact that you were honest with me would make me give you a break and eat the cost myself.

Just read the second part of your question and i see you got caught and have a court date.. Go into court expecting to pay for the mirror, and with a harsh lecture from the judge.. But here again.. don't excuse what you did.. be honest and tell the judge that you know you did wrong and just used bad judgement.. Also offer an apology to the owner of the car.. Good luck to you.. you do sound like a good kid who just made a silly mistake. The judge will see this too.

As a parent I say fess up to what happened (to your parents anyway). I tell my kids that being honest with me about what trouble they are in gets them less punishment than lying; this is because they will be punished double-for the trouble and for the lie. As for the law side of it not sure. If it was an accident you could offer to pay for replacement-if this is on a car other than one owned by your parents. If it is your parents car you'll be paying anyway.

you'll probably have to pay for a replacement, a small fine, and probably some comunity service (picking up trash.).

You'll be alright tho, so don't sweat it too much. In a few months you'll forget all about it.

If you didn't get caught, don't sweat it. If you did, and a case is coming up, see if you can get an attorney to plea bargain for you"probation before judgment" and offer to pay "restitution" . If it was your first offense, and you get in no further trouble, see if it might be possible to get the crime expunged from your record by the time you are 18

Its a misdemeanor of criminal mischief, and one at a low dollar value at that. If its total is under 250 bucks in Washington, you will just have to pay some cash up. However, if its over, personal liberties can be taken away ( most likely just community service ). Remember, the best thing to do, PLEAD THE 5TH, if more people did that, there would be a whole lot less arrest.
