If you were doing this in self defense it would have to be proven that you didn't use excessive force, when they stopped so did you. You can not beat someone to oblivion just because you felt like it. However you can defend yourself until you feel the threat is gone. |

Technically, you have caused GBH with an offensive weapon. this is bad, but the judge may look leniantly on you since it was on your own property and you believed them to have malicious intent.
The exact law is
"Whosoever shall unlawfully and maliciously by any means whatsoever wound or cause any grievous bodily harm to any person, with intent to do some grievous bodily harm to any person, or with intent to resist or prevent the lawful apprehension or detainer of any person, shall be guilty of an offence and, being convicted thereof, shall be liable to imprisonment for life. "
Since you were using an article that can be classed as a weapon, you have intent. since the teens went to hospital, it is GBH.
Not looking good. Max life, but since it is a teen acting maliciously on your property, judge may be leniant. |

You may well be charged with assault or causing bodily harm because you injured someone. |

Well done, I hope the scum that you saw off leaned a valuable lesson, though I doubt it, and I think the law usually takes the side of the yobs where people have even defended their own property. If I were you, I would seek legal advice just in case. |

In the UK it's a classic case were the innocent (you) will be found guilty and the criminal (the youths) get rewarded I'm afraid. |

"Well done" about time people stood up for them selves.you are a credit to the community. i don't think it will go far as the teenagers have lost one hell of lot of face. and will not want any one to know they were beat up by a female. Some how i think you will get slap on the wrist.on this one but i think we all hope you get away with it let us all know the outcome. |

some teenage thugs have just thrown a brick at my bedroom window and smashed it good job its double glazed phoned the police they gave me a crime no and said they-ed ring back they did about an hour later to make an appointment to come and see me at 1 o clock tomorrow it's a pity you can't have a jury i think you'd be found not guilty by the public. |

If i where you i would claim that you where under duress which at the time i would say you where you where threatened in your own home.
However even though tresspassing is illegal in the eyes of the law i dont think it would warrant violence, it sounds silly but unless they actually broke into your house and put you under direct threat they might treat this as assult on your part.
They will also take into account wether you have been in trouble with the law or not if you have not then you lawyer will fight that under duress you did certain actions that where not in your nature.
You might want to get some character witnesses in court to testify what kind a person you are these have to people you have known over 2 years i think.
Good luck and i hope this helped. :) |

I wouldn't worry. If they try to sue you for medical bills Countersue! I'm serious this will at least get you out of paying them. usually a countersueing with settle everything and no money will exchange hands of either person. The police have no grounds to press charges by the state because they were tresspassing. What were they doing anyway? I know I just had major problems with some teens in my area and the police made them pay back to fix our privacy fence we put up and a week later it was ruined. because they had graffittied all over it. I wouldn't worry until you hear something back. But I would call my lawyer if they try to contact you again. |

If you can prove self defense or that they were about to try a burglary, maybe even in the UK you can defend yourself from that. Did they have anything usable as a weapon, like a pry bar or big screwdrivers that could also be used to break into your house?
Sort out all those details and have them presented by your lawyer. Don't even think of showing up without a lawyer either, you can bet the perps will have one provided by the state, I'll bet. |
