What would happen if there were no laws...?

Society would break down & I'd finally have a chance to have a rifle outside the state of Texas! Just kidding about the rifle. This sounds like a college psych. paper or homework assignment.
People all say at one time or another that they would favor having no laws but don't believe it. Think , and I mean really think about all the laws we have. Now, think about all those times the Cops get called...fights, loud noise, dogs barking(I love this one...what the hell can they do about the dog...duck tape it???), kids, parties, bars, shop lifting, stealing, medical emergencies....you can go on & on until you are blue in the face. No laws = no common sense, no curbing ridiculous actions....for example, what stops a grocery store from selling a case of H20 during a Hurricane/Blizzard or other serious disaster at an exsorbant price? You think its because they couldn't get the $$ for it? How about when the sewers get flooded in your Town/City...who is going to come out and take care of that without laws in place? Say, Let's all go throw our batteries & leftover paint into the Town/City water supply sources...NO? Yeah, I didn't think so. Most people do not realize how much LAW is needed to make it just on an every day basis, so that each & every one of us can have some resemblance of a normal life. Think about what you do every day from start to finish and you will see how much LAW affects your life.

People would organize to deal with threats to the community. In the days when movement of people into the American west outran organized government, people did was was necessary and possible. Chronic thieves got a visit and an order to leave the area or die. Most left. Some died. Most laws come pretty naturally from what people want suppressed. Murder, assault, theft, etc. But where there's little law, it is accepted that some killings are necessary or at least unavoidable. If you threatened to kill someone in a place where there is no law enforcement to deal with the threat, you would have been excused for killing them they next time they approached you.

A crime is defined as an action that breaks the law. If there was no law, there would be no crime. Sadly though, there can not be a half way functioning society either. Most people go by their own moral code rather than law, and for many the moral code is also a reflection of the law (e.g. most would not murder). If it became 'right', that would assume that everyone's moral code had changed entirely and we had entered a parellel universe. If not and whatever nutjob changed the law to make murder mandatory, I bet my bottom dollar there would be such widespread chaos and protests that it would never materialise. Of course, there are some that will do immoral things because they are told to by authority (think Nazi death camps), but I would hope in this day and age that would not be possible to happen to such a degree
