What would happen if you got caught going 140 mph by cops?

a friend of mine thinks he'd get a warning. he's 16. i disagree

I disagree also. Probably the police will find him dead/and or
other people he did harm too.
Given that statement, he should not drive. He is not mature enough. Really.
If he wants to drive fast, tell him to go to a race track, see how he can get into that field.
However, not on the highways and roads where people drive,
some with their children in the cars. They do not go 140 miles per hour. Even Police do not, they have it covered by calling in other officers.
He will, if alive, get put in jail, and maybe not get his license
until he is 21. And have to pay for extra money for Insurance.
If he is going to drive under his parents insurance, do the
parents and him a favor....tell the parents, you will save a life. |

You would probably be arrested and booked and later fined and lose your license for reckless driving. |

A warning? That is the funniest thing I have heard all day. At a 140 mph, your looking at jail, car towed/impounded, and a license suspension until your 21. And a reckless driving conviction on your driving record. |

GWB
 |
I would lock you up.
Tow your car.
Try to get you treated as an adult. |

Well I would hope they would toss him in the can and throw away the key.
Your "friend" is a moron and a menace to society. |
|

dude.
 |
Huge speeding ticket, reckless driving and probably evading arrest, suspension of license, huge increase in insurance rates,,,,,,,,not to mention his parents won't ever let him borrow the car again. |
|

TexasCop
 |
The driver would be arrested and charged with Reckless Driving and Speeding.
The vehicle would be towed and the driver would lose his or her license for a period of time. |

Chances are he will kill himself, and the standard other 3 people, teens kill in a car crash. You should report his statement to his parents so they restrict him. Report him to the DOT so they do not license him.
If he survives such a speed, he will be arrested and spend a few days with unsavory characters at close quarters in a cage. He should permanently lose his license. On second offense, he should go to state prison for a decade or two. |

There are numerous, sentences the Magistrates have at their disposal. Firstly, he was speeding 140mph, this is classed as dangerous or reckless driving, then he is only aged 16, therefore i will presume he will not be insured and not have the right to use that veichle, and if he is a TWOC (Taking with-out consent) this just adds to the problem. I Believe from my Summary case experience and close working with the justices of the peace, he would probably recieve a community order, along with a 2 year driving ban and ordered to pay costs. however if he had or has, or almost hurt or endangered anybody he would be looking at a Custodial sentence, where he would be held at her magesty's pleasure for 6 months in a young offenders institute. and if i am to be honest these sentences are nothing and this driver should recieve a life ban and custodial sentence, as accidents happen all to easily, and it's too late when you have killed someone. As it's not the driver who is left to pick up the pieces it is the victim's families. |

There is a laundry list of bad things that will occur. tell him
for his own good, don't test it.
1. Will full reckless.
2. Reckless endangerment.
3. 1500.00 speeding ticket.
4. Loss of liscense until age 21.
5. Possible juvinile time 6 months.
6. Parents insurance rates through the roof or cancelled.
7. Community service hours.
No sense of humor when one is caught doing this. |

If he didn't kill himself in an accident before the police stopped him, he would be facing Reckless Driving charges, possible loss of license until 18 or 21, very expensive fines/court costs, possible jail time.
There isn't a police officer in the US that would let him walk after endangering numerous innocent lives on the road driving that fast. So he can forget about any warning. |

The only warning you would get is don't bend over in the jail house shower. |

Uh... you'd probably get a ticket! Or, if this isn't your first time getting pulled over, you'd probably go to jail. |

The FAA would ask for his pilots license.?
Or try to stop him from lift off?
I agree with you. LOL
You kids are great, like your indestructable....not you, of course, but your freind. Don't ride with him I like having you in our YA |

a warning? are you kidding me. you'd get a warning if you went 5 mph over the speed limit. but to go 140, they would arrest you, possibly put you in jail, tow your car and give you a MASSIVE speeding ticket. youd probably lose your license for a while too. |
