Even though he is 14, he should have been arrested. He should have been treated as an adult would have been treated. If anything this scare tactic could prevent him from behaving that way again. He should, at the very least, have some form of community service that he has to fulfill. |

If this is his first offence they would probably just caution him. Or he may get a fine.
They cant do anything about him swearing as this is just verbal abuse and although not acceptable they hear it a lot. They would definately arrest him for drunk and dissorderly and for posession of drugs and caution him. |

In Scotland the legal age of adult responsibility is 14! He will be reported to the PF and they will decide whether to report it to the Children's Panel or courts.
England may be similar. |

I think they should of beaten him within an inch of his life, what sort of parents let a 14yo boy go out and get drunk and take drugs.
Then he had the cheek to start being a **** to a policeman.
This is whats going wrong with this country, and its council estates, and disgusting delinqent children. I cant ****ing stand any of you. |

Yes, he should be arrested. He has committed the offence of possessing cannabis and a public order offence, probably section 4. Your friend should also be ashamed of herself as a mother that her 14 year old son is behaving like this. Feral youths such as him are responsible for a large amount of street crime (as he is proving) and in many cases this is as a result of poor parenting. |

He will be considered as a minor, so their powers are very limited.
They will get in touch with his parents, and will inform them he is in custody. they will keep him in until he sobers up, then will probabily either caution or charge him with a public order offence. they will want to know where he got the alcohol and drugs, so he can expect to be interrogated. The police will ask his parents to come to the station.
as for punishment, he may be required to attend a youth court
depending on any previous crimes, depends on any punishment that gets handed to him
that pretty much sums it up.
my childhood memories have come flooding back to me lol
sometimes, youngsters will do what they want to do, and the parents can do nothing to prevent it! i know because i was a complete tearaway yob in my teens.
years later and i am nothing like what i was in my teens thankfully! |

resisting arrest, causing a scene, endangering a cop, drug and alcohol possesion, alchol possession by a minor. Could be adults involved too. Some charges will stick some won't they could all be dismissed. he could go to a youth shelter, probation, community service, drunk tank. he will have some time in the klink. |

surely if this had happened as you say, you would already have the answer to your own question! |

He would most likely be arrested for being drunk and disorderly and possession of a controlled drug (cannabis).
If he was that drunk he would be placed into a cell until sober. His parents would be informed of his arrest and his rights would be given when sober with parents present.
The most likely outcome would be a reprimand or warning dependant on whether he has been in trouble with the police before. |

It is not a situation to be proud of!I do not fully understand your question?Because if he had done what you said he had done he would be under arrest now! |

How do you know he never hit anyone if he was so off his face he wont either. you should be careful of who your children mix with |

Probably they'd beat him unconscious, whether or not any punches made contact, then put him away for a ridiculously long time.
... Well, in the US. I dunno about the UK. The most recent information I have about UK police is from 1888. |

hmmm ,imconfused , if this happened to your som last night ... would he not have already been arrested by now ? |

Police Dispatcher

Of course the police would arrest him if he was swinging punches and swearing at the police. He wold be charged with resisting arrest and causing a disturbance due to the foul language. The proper procedures wold be that he was fingerprinted, patted down, and sit in a cell. |

Usually they try to take 14 year olds home - in handcuffs if necessary. If he really gets on their nerves, they would cart him off to the police station, charge him with assault and put him in a cell to sober up. If he's got no record, the police are likely to keep him for a few hours, ring his parents to take him home and give him a caution. If he keeps doing it, he's likely to stay the night and get an ASBO from the magistrates in the morning. |

He may be lucky and get away with caution. |
