What would you as an officer do if...?

You arrive at a scene and a fellow officer has someone in the back of their squad car in cuffs and takes a swing at them.

Would you go up to the officer and tell him he's wrong and file a complaint for a fellow officer?

Would you ignore the incident breaking the oath of swearing to protect serve and reassure?

And before you answer, take a second to think of the negatives - if you complain for the fellow officer it would make your work environment difficult to the point you may even quit under pressure. Because even if you ask for a transfer you will always be classified as the "rat/snitch" w/e you want to call it.

If you ignore the incident it would be not only be breaking the oath you swore to uphold but also upholding police brutality.

So being stuck between a rock and a hard place and cotton to pull you out...what would you do.

First you would investigate to see why or what is actually happening. I had other officer yell for my partner to stop hitting a guy in the stomach, One of them grabbed his arm. The bad guy was on the ground and cuffed. The other officers did not know that the bad guy was biting and not letting go of my shin and all my partner was trying to do was get him to gasp so he would stop biting, 30 years later I still have a whole and scar on my shin.
But even 30 years ago when officers saw something wrong they tried to stop it.
This idea that cops don't turn on other cops who are wrong is wrong in itself. They don't turn on other cops for minor things but if the other cop is doing real wrong someone will be told.
I was in a large city, I don't know how it is in small towns but we always felt a bad guy was bringing us all down. Bad cops were the ones that were shunned. No one would work with them.
It ain't like the TV news and the adventure shows and movies portray.

If I just got to the scene, then I don't know all the specifics.

I will help the other officer by restraining the prisoner. If he uses force that is excessive, I will stop him from doing so.

I will honestly state what I saw if asked, and if I have to write a report I will be honest.

You have to live with your own conscience and reprisal.
I never stood for once cuffed now hit, chicken sheet stuff and told partner so.
Would not ride with some, never told on them but; they knew stand I took.
Have testified as to the facts in court, would not lie to cover someone who was wrong in what they did, like "Above the law" stuff made me sick.
Thankfully those officers weeded themselves out of work.
Like the bad boy bikers at 1% of the normal groups, so is society, about 1% bad rest law abiding.
