You know, I actually read the news article that outlined this story, and while there is no question that the cop used excessive force and is in a lot of trouble (and should be in a lot of trouble), this little beyotch had it coming. If she were my daughter, this never would have happened, because she would have known to be respectful toward police officers. And while we're on the subject, if she were my daughter, she wouldn't have been in jail to begin with because she wouldn't have stolen a car. So if I were this girl's father, I would spend a lot of time lamenting the poor job I did raising this little hellion. And yes, I do have 4 children, and no, I do not expect any of them to be mouthing off to a cop any time soon.

I am a mother and a police dispatcher. I am first a mother, my job is take care of and protect my children. Personally if I ever heard a cop beat my 15yo daughter, I do believe I'd also be getting put in a cell. The maturity levels between a 25-40yo police officer and a 15yo is too great. I'd have the officers badge and sue the crap out of the police department.

Parents are there to protect their children. Especially when they make mistakes.

It would be both fair and appropriate to press charges and sue. But I would consider my daughter's feelings and well-being first. If she does not want to got through it, I would not persuade her otherwise.

I would consider moving to another town to help the healing process and get her away from that police department. Usually when you see things like this it is because it is something personal against an individual and/or all of that police department is rotten to the core.

First of all, I wouldn't raise a daughter who would get arrested and brought to jail. Second of all, I wouldn't raise a daughter who would still act out of control if she were brought to jail.

If I found out that she was being disrespectful in jail and earned a beating, I'd conveniently forget to bail her out of jail.

I found the news story, and here's what she got locked up for: "M. CALHOUN: He was being -- just talking about us in rude ways, making rude comments about things, like, oh, you guys steal cars, and it wasn't -- technically, we didn't steal the car. We were just borrowing my friend's mom's car without permission. We used it without permission." That's still breaking the law, isn't it?

Fortunately, I don't have kids, and probably never will, so I won't have to worry about anything like this happening.
