What would you do to uplift the image of police?

Show all the good they do. We see the small percentage of bad things that seems to be natural. Let's say that is 1% of all that happens. What about 1% of the really great stories. Where are these stories? Make a video or have an awards presentation that is publicized. Get the community involved. Give an award to the person who has the best story of an officer involved. Unfortunately many people can't participate because of privacy issues. So this is going to be tough. I am not saying get 50% of the stories only 1% so with that goal it should be possible. The more I think about it though, the more I can see why this is not happening. You are not going to have a women tell how the officers protected her & maybe saved her life when her b/f pointed a gun at her. I think you have to get the stories & keep them annonymous. Maybe get someone who will interview people but keep it confidential & tell them that the police station will keep their name from being revealed if they like but they can win $100. for their story. I think officers should visit schools, not kindergarden but high schools. Tell about their careers & the good they do in the community. I only see them go to elementary schools.

who is #1?

Change the laws of every State to allow citizens to actually enjoy the "bear" part of the 2nd Amendment. "An armed society is a polite society." This would diminish the power trip some cops enjoy, reminding them they are dealing with Sovereign Citizens.

First the Wyatt Earp syndrome that permeates most police department must be dealt with. It is an attitude that a lot of police officers suffer from when they begin to think that everyone is an a-hole except them which helps lead to the gang mentality that is suffered by many police departments. People see the abuse of power of police officers occasionally on the news and think this is an exception. But if you have ever lived on the streets of a large city in America you will find that this is the norm. Cops like to beat people up to impress their fellow cops and then brag about it at the bar later. Just because a person is arrested doesn't mean they should get beat up, and it is worse now than when I was first arrested over fifty years ago.

Well they have a job to do, but I don't like some of their actions. I guess I'd set up something independent in each county in America to investigate police corruption.
