You man use any of the options, A thru E, to defeat an intruder entering your home. The tranquilizer gun will get you both sued and arrested. The drug is a controlled item and unless you are a licensed Vet, you'd best not have it in your possession. Your chances of killing your intruder with an overdose of some animal tranq. are pretty high as well. |

Exactly why I love Texas..
Best weapon I've found is a Pump action shotgun. Just that sound scares anyone. You can survive a 9mm shot but your not going to survive my Buckshot or Slug. Even If you don't fire they will run. That sound is terrorizing to anyone thats on the receiving end. |

Its a very sad thing, but if you injure them, you'll probably be sued by the lousy turds.
Tazer, too close to be effective and safe for you.
Paintball gun with marbles....expensive and possibly lethal.
Rubber bullet gun....Probably not gonna find one readily available.
Bean bag rounds....could be your best bet, but can also be lethal. Remember, they're not called "Less Than Lethal" they are called "Less Lethal"
Blanks...may cause him to shoot real bullets at you.
Tranqs...You'll be so sued for that one. Plus they'll want to know where you scored the prescription meds. |

can be a choice
it will create the allusion of a REAL firearm
and cuz them to panic
when you paint the tip

and the gun must be over 420 fps to do any effective damage
in case he does something tricky |

All those are good. A friend of mine tried to climb a fence and got shot with rock salt. He said he didn't die, but wished he had. |

If you are serious about self defense, you have to have the mnindset that you may have to use lethal force. Your opponent will NOT be so merciful on you, I assure you. If you are that afraid of hurting anyone, flee and call the police. Whatever non-lethal weapon you use may be taken away from you and used against you. |

Evidence shows that people who have dogs would be passed by before people who don't.
Most do not want to wake the the neighborhood while breaking in because of barking dogs. They just don't want to deal with the animals.
If an intruder is inside your home and you have a gun you can shoot them in most states.
You can not set up traps that will automatically hurt them. They can sue you for that.
I would check the state and the laws. If some one breaks in my house I would get out my gun with bullets!!!
If you think about it...when they break in knowing some one is home then they are bold and would kill you. |

The only time you can do something to an intruder without being sued is if you or your familys' physical safety is at stake. For some reason our government has given more rights to our criminals than to us law abiding citizens. But the tazor only temporarilly fazes the intruder, so I would say tranquilize 'em |

My Shepherd.
She barks and growls her soul out at strangers, but when they come closer she wags her tail and plays with them... |

Tazer would be my choice. The civilian model lights you up for 90 seconds (5 seconds on our law enforcement version was enough for me praying to turn it off). Pull the trigger a few more times while waiting for law enforcement and the perp would remember to stay away from your house or come back shooting.
BCD are considered less lethal not non lethal as many refer to them as. They are capable of killing, especially in close distances like you will find in a house.
E & F would be out of the question. F you are going to have to sneak up and chances are they already have the upper hand (element of suprise). As far as shooting a gun iwth blanks would be a hit and miss. Anymore with society if you shoot a blank they will return fire with one that will inflict seriously bodily harm. |

In my opinion all these options are a little too unsophisticated. You dont just want to repel intruders when you are there but when your not too. People might expect to find a dog and might have some means to disable your trusty friend. There is something about the deep purring of a leopard which is far more frightening - if you're allowed to keep such a cat. To disable an intruder at any time whether you are there or not, a very high powered sound blast focused on the zone of intrusion as detected by an array of passive infra red detectors has amazing effect. So long as you are not at the focus of the sound, you are aware of the system working but your hearing and head remains clear. The intensity and the frequency of the sound blast can be fine tuned to instantly knock an intruder senseless and it is an automatic reaction to try and shield your ears from the sound so any weapon he is carrying tends not to be usable for a while. |

You have to be a veterinarian or be licensed to use the tranquilizer legally. An airsoft gun might be a good alternative but painting over the orange muzzle is illegal. Pepper spray is too close ranged to be effective, unless they can't see you coming. If I had one, I would sneak up on them with a cattle prod or a baseball bat. Both hurt like a ***** but won't kill them. Of course, there's always your trusty .44 or pump-action shotgun you can shoo them away with. Just remember: whatever you do, not use artillery or grenades as they will 100% kill them. |
