Most gangs affiliate themselves with either the Folk Nation or the People Nation. Crips are Folks, Bloods are People.
The Crips were formed in the early 70s in Los Angeles, and other gangs began combining to combat the growing threat. These combined gangs, led by the Piru Street Boys, eventually became knows as the Bloods.
The rivalry between the two skyrocketed in the early 80s. This was when crack became popular in LA. Because crack was cheaper and more addictive than powder cocaine, the two gangs fought for the right to control drug sales. |

Different gangs, different leadership. One of them I forget which partnered with the Feds. They were the recipients of Gov imported Coke as well as using Feds to take out competition.
Other than that they were essentially the same gang. Same tactics, markets, ideals, style, ethnic make up. |
