even coppers have to eat and drink mate. i have no objection to paying £4 a gallon (thats what it is here in the uk) if it makes the coppers get here quicker if i need them-besides you would feel rather put out if the police dumped you on the pavement in the freezing cold because they got an emergency call-stick to the cabs-thats what they are there for. |

I think so. It would save lives. In fact in Ripon WI several years ago a very drunk collage student asked 2 of the donut brigade for a ride home. She was coming from the bars and they were at the gas station doing nothing. They told her they were not a taxi service. She did not make it home and froze to death. Just a few minutes of their time was all she needed. Of course it was ruled not the officer's fault. |

Everytime I see fat police officers I get pissed. I've even made a smart remark to a few our plump vigiliantes.
Why do I want them as a deputy when they have no chance in the world if they have to get out of their stupid car and chase a criminal down? Fat people shouldn't be to terribly discriminated against, but THAT is against the interest of the public and frankly public dollars should not be paying public servants who aren't properly qualified. |

Hi Tommy, hehehehehehehehehehe you are funny aren't you!!! But you are right they do kill a lot of time and the gas here is $3.19 per gallon and that is the cheapest grade. Anyway yes you have a point. They get their free donuts and coffee and when you really need them they take their slowest time to get there. You can be dead by the time they show up.Hey when they become a persons taxis i will wave to all my friend. LOL LOL. That my friend would be a great time wouldn't it!!!

You're on to something here. We could rethink this whole gasoline powered vehicle thing while we are at it.
I think we should eliminate the police cruisers entirely, and give them all rickshaws, and that would let us hire probably 50% more police. They could still serve as taxis, but they'd also get a lot more exercise. Sure it would take them a little longer to respond to emergency calls, but with more officers, no one would ever notice.

We are ALWAYS busy..even if you see us in our vehicles, ignition running..we could be just ready to catch the criminal thats just run over a member of you family!..OR we have dealt with something horrific...so WE need time out..we are human too! .Plus when a vehicle is running and stationary we use about ' a shot glass ' or two in fuel..even if the vehicle has been running for 2 hrs plus..measure that to a gallon!!..But Police Officers are entitled to a break even if its at Starbucks or at Station..I know you are from the US..so keep working..because you pay us even when sometimes hate us..but when you want us..we are there for YOU! |

Yeah... someone should take away their cars and give them bicycles. It's more environmentally friendly and certainly more healthy for themselves, they'll lose some weight .... 30 min at Starbucks every day it's a lot of calories... |
