When the police are on duty, do they get free food that are paid by the city?

they still have to pay when they go into stores and restaurants. but i know that sometimes they get discounts when they are in there uniform

They have to pay for their food like everyone else. The occasional deli owner throws in a sandwich for free sometimes I'm sure.

Most of us at my sector bring our lunch. When we don't we eat the same places you do and pay the same price. Some places give us a discount and it's kind of embarrassing to become engaged in an argument with the waitress or cashier. So, most guys just leave the balance in a tip for the waitress. Gratuities are against our policy and it is not enforced. The PD can't tell the manager at McDonald's how much to charge, so when we do get a discount the waitress usually makes out like a bandit. The 7-11 gives us free coffee or soft drinks for our presence - they don't get robbed as much when were parked in front.

some get free food if they go somewhere and they are a regular there then the person working would just give it to them uncharged.
most get discounted food.
and they have a lot of benefits. along with making 50/60k a year
then also get hazardous pay and they get merit increases every so often so it pays. plus they get discounted health care and uniform money, they get a car after 7+ months or more working. discounts you can't believe. cell phone, car insurance, morgage it just pays.

I don't think the city pays for their food, unless it's at a city-owned facility.

The donuts and stuff that they get free or cheaper are paid by the store owner, not the city. Store owners like it when police come in uniform, because it deters criminals.

Some cities have programs where on-duty police officers can get free food at government operated locations that serve food such as schools, jails, hospitals, etc. Most officers however get their food from the same places we do and pay just like we do.

Only sugar-glazed donuts are free. Chocolate donuts are not.

Im not sure about food but most cops get over 100 grand a year, they get pretty much every insurance covered. one bad thing is when you become a cop, you have to go through many tests including getting tasered and pepper sprayed.
