What a load of crap...cops risk their lives going into neighborhoods where they can get their heads blown off by gangs everyday...If you're stupid enough to look at a cop cross-eyed in a bad neighborhood you deserve a butt-kicking no matter what color you are. If you want respect act respectably.

All cops go through sensitivity training. They learn that from their experiences and not all cops are that way. A few bad cops made a bad name for them all.

Where I live, the cops do reverse discrimination and only pull over white people for speeding, they don't want to mess with anyone else.

It is not all police that act in this way. It is only a few out of a crowd if any. It isn't that they are targeting African Americans. Its there job to treat all equally. You may just be directing your eye to them only when you see them engaged with an African American because you see it as a stereotype. Most people act out against police, its there job to keep the peace, that's what they are trying to do. It's not the person but the badge most are angry at. Keep an eye open, you will they are not profiling.

I worked 20 years on the job, and treated EVERYONE like I wanted to be treated, no matter their skin color. Only when they got unruly did I have to use any force, but for the most part they were cooperative.

I love your idea for that my father is actually a cop in my town and i have never seen this happen but it doesn't mean that this isn't going on. I know all of the cops on the force and i know for a fact that the Steroids thing is out of the question here but i think it is a very god idea!

Sure. There are racist cops.

Racism has ABSOLUTELY no place in any institution where the employees carry a badge and a gun.

But not all cops are racist.

Cops already get "sensitivity training." None of it is going to help keep people, cops or otherwise, from being racist until peaple stop raising their kids to judge people by the color of their skin.

Outside of that, the best that can be hoped for is that those cops which exhibit racist attitudes will be prevented from acting on them by punishing them to the full extent of the law when they go overboard.

On the other hand, it would also be a good idea to recognize that a cop who stops a person that isn't white ISN'T necessarily doing it just because of bigotry. I've seen episodes on cops where someone gets physically resistive and get taken down, then claims that the cops used excessive force. But the fact is, they actively resisted. If they had just done what they were told to do, the cops wouldn't have roughed them up.

I watch cops too. I also am one. I would refuse an assignment in which my partner was openly racist and prone to beating up those whom were of races that he didn't like. I don't know of any that work in my duty station who have that attitude. Like I said, that doesn't mean there aren't racist cops, but to say that all cops are is equally ignorant and unfair. Even bigotted.

You are obviously taking a jab at evolution. Unfortunately, you are wrong. Darwin was a product of his generation, and I don't doubt that he might have though whites were smarter than most other, if not all races. However, by ALL accounts, Darwin treated the various other races of people that he had met during his vast travels with dignity and respect. Darwin was also an active and vocal opponent of slavery, which your bible condones. In fact, I have never read or heard anybody trying to promote racism with evolution. More often, they take bible scriptures out of context and twist them to suit their bigoted views. The fact that racism was prevalent in the world long before Darwin was even born is proof that evolution isn't the cause of it.

It's not just blacks, cops treat everyone with disrespect because they think they are better than anyone.

And the way they act and their over aggressiveness is not always because of steroids, its because they have too much testosterone. And is why most of them become cops in the first place.

It's just what happens when you give a human being power and put them in a position of authority over people.

This is a pretty presumptious question. My educational system brainwashed me into believing that blacks were always the victims of racism. This is ridiculous. Anyone can be accused of racism or insensitivity, but for some reason it is always whites who are blamed.

Go watch COPS for a hour and see how many more blacks they arrest than whites. Blacks are such hypocrites, they say that we are racist by calling them the "N" word but then the same people go around calling us cracker and stuff like that. They get what they deserve, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

P.S. The only reason that we are yet to have a black president is because they are to busy selling drugs!

Maybe they will on the day the blacks stop yelling racist everytime they get arrested. I have seen black officers called racist by black criminals. I have been called racist against white people by a white guy and I'm white. Doesn't really matter now does it. Criminals are treated the same regardless of race or religion and they are all dumb-asses.

i treat blacks the same as i do whites or mexicans. if i tell them to keep their head down, they better do it. or i will put it down for them. there are reasons we do things. police arent nearly racist as everyone thinks. no one i work with anyway

I think the correct way to answer this is to ask when will the blacks learn to act like civilized people and act dignified, but, every time a cop pulls a black over for going 90 M,P,H, in a 30 M,P,H, speed zone it is always because he is black and they are profiling, they should be ashamed don't you think?

When the people make politicians do their job and put laws in place to force government institutions, law agencies and police departments around the country to use stricter guidelines for hiring their staff to keep racism out, which a good place to start would be in the military, because although people of all races get recruited for the military, racists get recruited also. This is relevant because a lot of recruits in the police department are racists that were in the military.

I arrest so many **** heads, it isn't funny. I have encountered pretty bad dudes, who know they have been caught. They inform me they have a gun and drugs, put their hands behind their back, and that is that. They respected me, so in turn, I didn't kick them, hit them, etc. I put the more comfortable hand cuffs on him, and made his arrest as pleasant as he made it for me.

People have told me they have a small amount of drugs in their vehicle or on them, perhaps even enough to convict them with posession, and I have them destroy it because they were honest, and didn't feel it would be fair to charge them, when they could have lied and gotten away. What would that teach them? Lie to the police and get away.

I've cutten a lot of breaks to a lot of people of all races, genders, ages, etc. It all comes with having the right attitude.

african americans bring trouble mostly due to how they act. they very ever cooperate.they are mouthy and very uncoperative.they very clearlt ignore what the officers tell them. i was a officer for 25 years. the only thind i saw was when the dd]id not cooperate. when they did cooperate they were treated just like anyone else. cops are not on steroids.i never even heard anything about steroids during my entire career. the people that cooperate are the older people. the young people are the mouth ones.i csn back up anything i have said.i was the only whire officer to work the the dallas areanear fair parl. it is probably 98% black. i was in this area for 25 years

Do not write using your name of Mormon Friend and then spout what you conceive as truths. What you have written is nothing more then ramblings. I am a police officer, i treat everyone with respect. The way you are eventually treated when i am handling a call in which you are involved in, is decided in direct by the way that person acts. You act like a thug and start beating your chest, you will be handled in such a manner to stop your resisting, and at all times staying within the law. Those who demand respect from law enforcement, should also be the first to give respect. DO NOT preach what you do not live. You spouted out the line "there are a few white officers that hold back their racists actions", sir your mind in made up, or should i say closed to any further actions. When you learn to live by spreading love and not hate, then return and speak.
