If a dead body was found that needed to be identified by the next of kin, would this ever take place at a police station or only at the hospital morgue?

our police station is on the second floor of the city building, they dont drag dead people into the office building elevator, they use one of our local hospitals for a morgue. |

I believe you're in the UK. In that case the identification takes place at the hospital mortuary. They have a viewing room where the body would be presented as decently as possible. |

At a morgue, always. In smaller locales the local hospital will have a morgue set up, in larger metropolitan areas the Office of the Coroner has a morgue. |
