I work in pizza, (between film crews,) and let me tell you, it's a lot of money and a lot of hours, if you're a delivery driver. It doesn't matter -- Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns... whichever one closest to you is most likely hiring, and most of them will give an ex con a chance. Just try it and see what happens.
If you're not eligible to drive because of too many tickets, suspended license, no car, what-have-you, you can work inside. If you really work your butt off and grow to care about what you're doing, maybe you can get on a management track, and if you choose not to stay in pizza, it's a great stepping stone to other things.
That would be my suggestion.
