Where are the police?

We see enough Police here in Arizona. They are first on the scene after traffic accidents. We had some stuff stolen & a Police Oficer was at our door within 10 minutes to take a report. They do a hard job & risk their lives for us. Be grateful!

I personally think the police do a great job! Its the government that lets us down!!!

The police are managed and scrutinised by the government.

The same government who are also responsible for the vast majority of red tape that ties us down. Filling out form after unnecessay form. Spending 5-6 hours dealing with a simple shoplifter!!

The same government that is responsible for the state of current sentencing and punishment (a joke!).

The same government who would rather have cheap PCSO's instead of officers.

The same government who promised massive reform 10 years ago.

The same government who introduced the Human Rights Act, in the favour of offenders and not victims.

I am a police officer with no say with how we are run. I am personally disappointed with the way things are. Some of the issues do lie with us, or should I say the management. The majority lie with the government. They will talk themselves up again to win another election then fail to deliver yet again.

I Understand how you feel, The sad fact is that most coppers on duty right now , are filling out endless reams of paperwork. Crime appears to be winning, Because the " bleeding Heart" brigade have seen to it that, instead of being out on the Streets, they are Desk-bound.

The police are supposed to protect and serve but when your loved one is murdered you don't expect the police to give you the house back complete with blood and bits of scalp with hair still attached etc but they do !!! and they expect the family to clean the ex crime scene because if the house is privately owned not council rented then there is no authority including the police who take responsibility for cleaning crime scenes.

So when you say the police are a waste of time and crime is winning your right!!!!

I have no faith left in the police and the criminal justice system is a sham the man that murdered my dad just got 5 years off his life sentence of 18 years without the possibility of parole because the court of appeals thought 18 yrs was too harsh, this murderous monster is a violent repeat offender who had 10 previous convictions for serious assaults with weapons which escalated to murder he will never be rehabilitated and will walk the streets to kill again and some other poor family will have to clean up the mess.

And as for criminal injury compensation well forget it the victims family are in most cases not entitled yet the murderers can get compensation for having to slop out, there is no justice and it seems crime does pay.

I think the police are doing a ok job, but the government has let us down. They make the laws and the police have to enforce them so i cant realy blame them.

Actually, in Arlington and Alexandria, VA, the police are very visible and for the most part do a great job.

funny. You want more police but you people are generally the ones that vote down the levys for police. You cannot patrol the streets too well without a police car that works or no gas.

That's what 911 is for. If you see a crime taking place, pick up the phone and report it.

When a society stops caring for one another, then crime will win. But there are lots of good people out there, the police included, trying to protect you. Respect them, and help them do their job.

They do a good job in my area, full time station - I agree with one of the other people who have posted - if they aren't in yours then consider moving!

Also police are not a complete waste of time, without them there would be so much more trouble. Are you doing anything about it?

The main reason they are not seen out on the streets is because they are all minors who haven't started shaving yet, even the wpc's. Their mummys won't let them out to play with the big boys..........................

Crime is not winning. There are more people currently in jail in the US than at any time in history. Crime is still significantly lower than it was at any time in modern history (2004 was the lowest year on record; there have been slight increases ever since).

It's the old addage: The Police are never there when you need them. Which is true. They're too concerned with people going 5 miles over the speed limit. It also doesn't help that EVERYONE nowadays breaks the damn law though, does it?

But, they do some great things occasionally, like busting drug dealers, or horny, corrupt, senators trying to get off in public bathrooms.....
