My license (Kentucky) has been suspended for non-payment of an out of state (Indiana) speeding ticket. I know it was suspended as my employer does an annual driving record screening.
I want to get this ticket taken care of and my license renewed. The problem is that I don't know what county I recieved my speeding ticket in, and I don't know who to contact to find out who I need to pay.
All help is greatly appreciated. Additional Details Thank you all so much for the information thus far. For the record, I work for a security company where I am the supervising desk officer. The driving records are checked because all other officers are required to drive company vehicles. Because of my position, my employment is not in jeopardy.

Contact the Indiana state police, but by phone so that they aren't able to arrest you. They'll be able to tell you which county/city the ticket was issued and by which department (ie city police, country sheriff, or state police) you where ticketed by.
Once they give you that information contact the department that issued the ticket again by phone and ask what you need to do to get the ticket cleared. It should just be paying the ticket which is probably huge by now with extra fees and penalties for not taking care of it in the time allowed. Once they give you the amount offer to pay by credit card if they allow it, or send them a check via certified mail.
On another note are you sure you Kentucky license has been suspended? Generally if you fail to take care of a ticket "out" of state they will revoke your driving rights in that state ONLY. Since that state doesn't issue your drivers lic they have no power to take any action against your dl, but can revoke your rights to use that license to drive in their state.
I ask that question because the report your boss is getting might be a bit misleading unless he gets it directly from the drivers license division in your state. If he's using a national service the report might be presenting false information because of the unique nature of being licensed in one state, but have driving rights suspended in another. |

Call the Highway patrol or State Troopers. In California we have the Highway patrol.
Everything is on computers. The Highway Patrol is STATE WIDE. They have your record on file. The DMV suspended your license, they know the county. Trust me.
Ask them what you have to do to get this mess cleared up?
Volunteer for driving school. Plead ignorance, say you're sorry. tell them how this impacts your employment situation. If all else fails hire an attorney. Don't let some civil servent close the door on you. You made a mistake. Go higher, do what's necessary.
I'd stay out of the state of Indiana, they l have you on file for not appearing for the ticket. They still might have a warrent for your arrest. The state of Indiana for sure have you in their computer. Call the State troopers in Indiana. Just to be safe CALL....don't take the chance and walk in'
You could wind up in the cross bar hotel. |

Your local DMV office should be able to tell you...you'll probably need to go in person with an acceptable I.D. before they do a computer check.
I would hesitate to recommend you to your Highway Patrol office for them to check since it might already have turned into an arrest warrant and you could be arrested on the spot. |

call dmv or go to any local legal aid office in your area if you cant afford an attorney. they might be able to help you out besides calling your local dmv office but before that talk to your attorney cause they might issue a warrant for you. |

If you could remember where you were pulled over you could simply bop on over to the county site and look into the traffic court division for info.
Bet you don't, since you did not even bother to pay it or hold on to it.
Congrats on the suspended license, though. I hear doing time for bench warrants issued for traffic violations is, like, totally in. |

Hit up Indiana State Police on MSN white pages. Ask 'em for "Warrants Issued".
They ain't gonna come to Kentucky to git ya. They'll be more than happy that you wanna take care of it. Use a credit card or cashiers check to pay it off.
You're a good person to wanna take care of it rather than shine it on!
I'm hopeful that your employer will recognize your initiative and honesty. |

Been there done that try to look at a map and try to remember what town you were cited in or a reciept of any transanctions. Also you could call the state of kentucky police where your suspension is and they will tell you where your lis is suspended from. make sure you get fax numbers from both police dept so once you pay they will fax over a release form to lift the suspension. good luck !!!! |

get this ticket taken care of asap. and do not by any means, do not drive on a suspened license. A ticket for driving on a suspended license is a hefty fine and then u get more time against ur already suspended license and it's just a downward cycle.. you will also get ur car towed upon getting caught driving as well. All an officer has to do is run your plates, even if ur are obeying all traffic laws he can pull u over by seeing that the registered vehile owner has a suspended license. I know this is all off the intended subject but i delt with a suspended license for a year and it was a mess of fines, etc. If you still have the original ticket it should say what county it was in and the citation number. Google that county and their government page should pop up... all contact info should be there. Good luck! |

wow, thats awful. i dont want to scare you but you also might have a warrant out for your arrest because you did not pay that ticket. least in florida you would have ! i would call the indiana division of motor vehicles ( call your local dmv to get the number) and explain the sitation to them and see if they can look you up on their computer to see if they show the outstanding ticket. barring that you might call the indiana division of law enforcement ( not sure what its called there) and see if they can help you. not knowing where in indiana you got the ticket might make it impossible to find out who to contact to pay. as a last resort, you might want to stay out of indiana :-) |

You might start with your local DMV. |

My opinion - go on line and look up DMV for Indiana and call them on the phone.
If you remember if it was state police or local police in Indiana and know the town you were cited in, call that police force.
Perhaps even your own DMV can be of assistance. Seems if they have suspended your license then they have a record of what motivated them. |

I hate to tell you but the judge has probably issued a bench warrant for your arrest, well atleast thats how it happens in GA. Goodluck, all I can tell you is to contact the Kentucky Department Of Motor Vehicle. They should be able to pull up your past due ticket, or call the Indiana DMV one of the two will have it for sure. It would probably be easier to call the DMV of which you had your liscence issued. |
