It's reassuring to see that many respondents to this question now believe the investigators' conclusion that an abduction did not take place and those who know the fate of Madeleine are her parents and their friends. Interestingly, Gerry McCann now admits that the fund is running dry. How convenient that he is choosing to make a Channel 4 documentary of his side of the story, no doubt to be followed by another appeal for more money.

There is no proof as to what happened. The tabloids made up lies (again) about it being the parents and then had to pay the parents compensation. There have been sightings throughout europe but not very many and now the hype has died down, no one looks any more. However, the parents should have been arrested for negligence. Any working class parents in the same situation would have been. Its like that banker that got community service for branding his wife with an iron (apparently she didn't iron his shirts properly). And why did he get off so lightly? He was earning a six figure salary and was "too busy" to go to prison.

I do think, unfortunately that the poor child is dead. I think she was simply abducted and murdered

I honestly don't think the parents had anything to do with it. The pain in their faces at the time could not have been feigned. I'm afraid I think she is no longer alive. There are too many people who know her face, in particular her eye, whoever took her could not have run the risk of her being found. I often think about her as I have a boy of an identical age. I remember thinking at the time that had I not had another child I would have felt like dying myself. God bless her!

I didn't watch a lot about it,but what struck me as very odd was the Mc canns walking hand in hand down the street,too calmly for my liking.Now if that was my little girl i would be going ape ripping the place apart.The whole affair stinks,i would never let my girls out of my sight,if you cant get a baby sitter you don't go out simple as that.I personally think it was a set up,they were just too damn cool about.
I think and hope Maddie is still alive,if i'm wrong about the Mc canns i apologise,Maddie could of been kidnapped and sold,it's all sad whatever has happened to her.

Sadly I think that she is dead and the parents know more than they are saying. I don't believe for one minute that she was abducted. I am glad that they are not my Doctors is all I will say.

The poor kid was more likely killed soon after abduction, I would assume her body would not be too far away. I think the Portuguese Police handling of the case was appalling. If it had of been a Portuguese kid it would have been different.
