Assuming you meant "debt" and not "dept" ....speak with him. If that doesnt work file a civil complaint or open a case with a creditor. Calling his boss or the police department is not right. His debt was accrued as a civilian not a police officer. Dont mix personal life with professional. Everyone has debt, why is a police officer expected to be better at paying it than anyone else?

Talk to the police officer.
Then send the officer written notice.

If that doesn't work, sue the officer in civil court and report the debt to all 3 credit bureaus.

Just like you would handle it with anyone else.

Depends what the debt is.... does the officer owe you rent money? You can sue a cop in small claims court - just the same as ANY citizen. Make sure you have evidence, receipts, whatever to back up your claim.

Never Regret has it right. If the officer owes you money then talk to him/her about it. If they don't pay it then turn it over to collections or take them to civil court. Calling there employer could border on harassment and open you up to civil problems.

it is not clear wheather you are talking about a police man not paying his dept(department) or debit? in either case the best person to talk to is the head of police in your town.

Find out the officers name, call his department, and ask to speak to his Watch Commander. He/She will do the rest.

depends. Is the debt his personal debt to you or your company, or is the debt on behalf of the police department?

If it's a personal debt, put him in to a collection service or if it's not something that can be collected that way, then report him to the police - odd as that sounds. It doesn't matter what his occupation is, police officer or not.
If it's a debt on behalf of the department, then put them in collection as a business and you'll get your money that way also.

Being an officer of the law doesn't make you any higher then those laws that you're employed to enforce.

Thats a difficult position to be in. Do NOT ever extend credit to a public service officer. Although society potryas policemen and firefighters as altruistic heros; in reality they are not. You are dealing with individuals with minimum education, maximum self centered ideation, and absolute commitment for causing problems.

If this is in reference to a legally documented agreement..you should get an attorney and let him handle it. If this is not a legally documented agreement...YOU most likely would be better off just lettign it go. Learn your lesson and move on.
