Go right to the university's administration if you have to-but with
that kind of accusation you better have some proof to back it up.
The race card has been overplayed by some in recent years. |

Dean of Affairs maybe. He/she would probably be able to (or at least know how to) go about talking to them about it. Maybe sure you have a couple names to give and a couple provable incidents to explain. You need to be specific about it. It depends on the size of your school and if there are other departments that would be able to handle that kind of problem. Like on a very small campus, the Dean of Students might do that, but on a larger one, there might be another department specifically to target racism. You can also look for any Multicultural clubs, many of them would be able to help you go about getting treated fairly.
You can always go to the main office of your school and ask how to go about speaking to a "higher up" about campus security (but don't specify anything to them, they're just the receptionist, wait until you are actually talking to somebody that can do something). Or you can see if you can find the President of the school walking around campus and ask if you would be able to make an appointment with him/her to discuss something that's been bothering you about the university. But wait until you're in their office to tell them about it so no one overhears you. Don't give away too much information or make any of the officers look bad because you don't know who he/she might be friends with and it might be offensive. Sound professional, mature and concerned. Not whiny or anything.
Good luck!
I see a lot of people (like Catnip) leaving some pretty mean comments, but don't listen to them. I'm assuming you're thinking of a specific incident that really made you feel that way and aren't just "playing the race card". If you were getting robbed and an officer walked right by, turned his head, and kept walking, then that would be treating you unfairly due to your race. Or if you wanted him to walk you to your car at 1:00 at night because you didn't feel comfortable going alone, and he said he was "too busy", then that would also be treating you unfairly. It would only be considered "pulling the race card" if you wanted the police to do something for you that they wouldn't normally do for anyone, regardless or race, like carry your book or something, and you try to guilt-trip them into doing it. Some people just assume too much... I didn't assume you meant because you were doing anything "wrong".
Just read your additional details. What types of questions are you asking? Would you be better off just asking a different department on campus? If you were asking about the quality of the food, the police wouldn't be able to do much, but if you were asking something specifically about campus security and they just didn't feel like give you a logical/legitimate answer, then maybe you should try talking to a different department on campus, or just ask other students. You can also ask to speak to the head of the security department and tell him about your encounters. Let him talk to the rest of the officers about it. Good luck! |

There should be representatives on campus that can assist you in this matter, you may want to start with your Student Services. Even if they cannot help, they may be able to point you in the right direction. There may be internal complaint processes, so try to document each event so that you can prove your case if you need to. You could also try contacting a resident advisor (if you are on campus), or a trusted professor or faculty member.
You haven't specified what the situation is, but you could also try the Yellow Pages for organizations that might assist you (NAACP, the ALCU, etc). If you aren't getting anywhere within the boundaries of the campus, you may have to go elsewhere. |

cop watch.
doccument what they are doing to you using video and audio recordings. without documentation you really have no case. also make sure there are witnesses around when they harass you or what ever it is they are doing.
depending on what state you are in there could be lots of things you can do.
also always know you rights.
check out www.infowars.com for more information about the police and things of that nature. |

I'm a University cop. I need more info to help you. I work at a University that is about 40% minority enrollment. I am white. Our department tries to accomadate everyone. There are times though when we have to enforce the policies of the University regardless of race or a person's sensitivity to race. You can alway file a cliam with the State Board of Regents in your State. They oversee all colleges and universities. Give me more info if you can though. |

sounds like you are sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong...
just because you have an opinion doesn't mean that we are interested or will change to accommodate you...
if you have a problem then there is a way to handle it, and obviously running your mouth all over the campus is NOT the way things are done...
grow up and follow directions...
the world does NOT revolve around you... |

If that doesn't work, you can file a formal grievance with the Dean of the college - but it's usually better if you just try to start closer to the bottom of the chain and work your way up until you get a satisfactory result. But you might never be satisfied - in which case, you could consider taking your money and brilliance to another college. Good luck! |
