Why are people always hating on cops?
|
When asked why?...they never have a real answer only to say that cops beat people and abuse power. All which is portrayed by television. I know so many people that hate the police and when I ask them if the police have ever done anything bad to them they say..."NO, but I hate cops anyways"...Okay but do you hate the thugs and the drug dealers in your community do you talk s.h.i.t about them?
Why is it that people hate the police when the police is not the problem it's the members of society who cannot abide by the rules of the law and keep breaking the rules and then they blame the Cops of being the "BAD GUY"

The only reason I'd say anything bad about a cop is if he abuses his power (even slightly). Many do abuse their power, but the cops that don't have my complete respect. |

It is fact that some cops are "crooked" as some people say and do abuse their power.
And it is a very high chance that these certain people may hate cops is because either
1. One or perhaps some of their family members have been locked up.
2. They have been caught or have nearly been caught by the police doing something bad. |

I don't dislike them, but most of them do abuse their power. They do what they please, and don't abide by the laws, themselves! I love it when they are talking on their cell phone and flying down the interstate 90-100 with no lights or sirens on. Or when they tailgate you just because... Don't they know if someone had to slam on their brakes, the accident would be THEIR fault? That cracks me up. |

It's a common misconception. The truth is, cops are people too; so there ARE bad ones, and there are good ones. We would all love to assume we are being protected by the city's finest and most noble; however, this may not be the case. Some people become cops because they just want action, some do it for the easy retirement plan, some do it for the use of power--you name a reason, it's probably already happened.
The thing we must usually remember is, that cops are here to protect you. I usually feel safe around police officers [however, i'm feeling a bit vulnerable at the moment because now they're training them to carry armed machine guns, and i think that's a bit extreme] especially in a known dangerous "area" or surrounded by shady looking people.
Also, a lot of people have disrespect for officers because of a lot of accidental [or non] shoot outs that kill innocent people. A LOT of people get angered by that. I hate how people always try to pin it to a race thing, when sometimes it was just another flying bullet.
Bottom line is there are many factors that make us not believe in the power of cops, but I am one who do respect them as an authority and as a people so just remember; if you don't mess with them, they won't mess with you. If they do start something...then that's a whole other issue, lol. I hope this helped. =) |

Yes... there are some people who hate the police because of the media or because some rapper hates them. But there are other people who hate the police because of personal reasons, such as an officer shot their cousin, who was an innocent bystander near a crime, or a officer pulled them over, just to pull them over.
I don't hate the police because I'm 14 and have to reason to deal with the police... And it's kinda hard to hate a whole unit when it's just one person... That's stereotyping... |

I think it's because most people have never met a cop except during traffic stops, which frankly, are rarely ever pleasant encounters for anybody. |

I don't fear them at all, but I don't break the law either. The local sheriff the patrols this area is actually pretty cool. Sometimes he stops if I'm outside working, and we talk for a bit.
And if I get caught speeding, then it wasn't the cops fault, it was mine. |

Most people hate cops because the majority of cops write tickets for minor crimes that really shouldn't be crimes in the first place. Example, traffic violations. Most traffic violations are only implemented to make money, not protect the society as a whole. Another example is seat belt tickets. If people do not want to wear their seat belt who cares, let them kill themselves its their choice. I don't feel any safer knowing that police officers are on the look out for people who are not wearing there seat belt. I do care however, that cops are looking for stupid things like safety belts when they should be looking out for more serious crimes that could harm society as a whole. |

People find it easier to place blame on others instead of themselves. Remember when you'd get mad at your parents for grounding you and you thought they were sooo unjust, etc? It's like that. |

People hate on cops, because there are so many stupid laws these days and citizens can't even live their lives without being harassed by cops. Because it is a race between cops of who can give the most tickets and the most arrests, they dont consider what that person might be going through, some people can even afford to have food on the table everday or can hardly pay the rent and now they have to pay all this money for not comming to a complete stop at a stop sign or for going a little over the speed limit because they were distracted by something or becuase there going with the flow of traffic or whatever. Or mabey because alot of cops are bad people or mabey there having a bad day and take it out on someone they pull over. |

bad attitude towards people and they think they are better than people. we do need the police but they do come across arrogant and over powering.. but i do think it boils down to the people. not all police have a bad attitude tho some are really nice and frendly |

but are most cops stopping the thugs or the drug dealers? NO, they are down at the skate park making sure there are no bikes in the park or they are arresting some kids for loitering while a man is murdered in the street around the corner. |

You obviously don't want to hear what kind of liars they are so it's a moot point. The last person I would trust would be a cop. They don't deserve any more respect than politicians do.
Thank you Steven H.You know exactly what I'm saying. |

They hate cops 'cause of the perceived bias cops have against them.
There are typically 2 situations when a law-abiding citizen will interact with a cop.
First is the "victimless" crime.
These are driving too fast, under-age drinking, personal use of "controlled substances", etc..
They are thinking "I'm not hurting anybody, leave me alone".
The swift fist of "justice" deals out disproportionate punishments.
$150.00 speeding fines, one beer gets you a $500.00 fine and license suspension at a random DUI checkpoint.
Let's not forget the $100.00 fine if you don't have your insurance papers with you at those checkpoints..
These days, a young person getting busted for weed can permanently screw up their life.
If somebody keys your car, breaks into your house, harasses you, etc. the cops can't or won't do anything. No proof, no evidence....
Look at the news papers.
Hardened criminals with good lawyers get less punishment than you do if you're caught emergency-urinating behind a bush.
And let's not forget the typical cop Gestapo-like attitudes when dealing with people, especially teenagers.
After a few experiences like this, is there any wonder why cops are hated? |

They are not all "GOOD GUYS". Are you saying no cop has ever abused their power? If you were the victim your tune would change real quick. Being helpless while some crooked cop abuses you, would be very frightning. |

i h8 cops

@ balock,he said it all,and i agree, it seems that someone with a little dope,or their first dui, theyre lives are screwed, cars taking away, but i personally know of two cops in polk county ,fl,that were so wasted when the pinellas cops pulled them over, found out who they were, got somebody to come pick them up,and that was the end of it, no arrest, nothingtill newspapers got a hold it,they look out for their own,but someone else that had couple beers at lunch, watch out,and im not making excuses for dui's,but when cops break the law, they always have their bros in the force to help cover it up,and i know of a another polk county deputy that always had the best drugs, seriously, they were good ,wonder where he got it from, hmmm, some might wonder thats why cops suk |
