Why are the cops corrupt?

Laws are subjective. There are Law Enforcement Officers who fall on both sides of the Fence. You'll find that in any occupation. Law Enforcement just happens to be the most visible because it's in every city and town.

Corruption is much worse in 3rd World Countries.

try having someone in your family almost get killed by a township supervisors son in a traffic accident and then have it covered up by the chief of police because the supervisor and his son have a huge company called lake forest gardens in fombell ,pa together.BEEN 3 1/2 years and the insurance company is still taking their good trying to comprehend the corruption...then the FBI doesnt do a thing about the public corruption because he must pay more taxes then me..But it might have something to do with a couple of months before that when I got in a fight with a highschool football player and next thing you know i am with my girlfrind and get a call about the kids house getting torched that same night..i passed a polygragh with flying colors.although i am not too sure if anyone in his family took a polygragh....but anyhow it was complete insurance fraud 500 thousand worth and funny enough the school also had a fundraiser for him...did some research and learn his uncle is in the fbi...im thinking that has something to do with the lack of help with the accident...the whole system is corrupt..im pretty sure being that it has been 4 years since then they have still got away with it ...trust me as a person of experience dont trust ANYONE that has to do with law enforcement....and until justice is served for me ,my brother and my family i will never have faith in any type of law enforcement ever again....

Because some people get into that field of work to do good things, and some to take advantage of the "power" they receive with it, they think they ARE the law and think they can do whatever the fcuk they want. Fcuk those pigs. But if you think these are corrupt, go to Mexico.

actually no, there are stickers and the such but most officers do not honor them, and actually expect them to know better than to evern ask.

Many police officers do allow fellow officers alittle slack, but not all of them. Esp in some areas, county police don't like certain city officers, so they will go out of thier way to give those officers tickets and they do the same in return.

And for the officers they have a sticker they put on thier vechile, only officers are allowed to buy these stickers they are controled very tightly.

So most of the "coutesty things" are not really honored normally.

I don't think this really does happen on a scale large enough to be concerned about. I, however, do acknowledge the fact that corruption in many forms exists.

Remember the old saying - absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Law enforcement officials have been given expanded powers over the recent years. Now it is POLITICIANS and THE LAW and THE CITIZENS. CITIZENS have zero power. THE LAW has a good deal of power. And POLITICIANS have absolute power and are above the law.

With the political end of things totally corrupt, and the level of power given to the police to now treat the citizens as trash - it is no wonder that corruption in the police department is so rampant.

I was recently illegally pulled over by a cop, who took my license, took the plates off my car and was going to take my car away as well - but luckily I was able to bribe the tow truck driver to take my car to my office so I could hide it. I had to hire an attorney to get my license back and re-register my car. It it going to take another several days before I can finish all of that. And in the end - I cant even file charges against the cop because I didnt have anyone with me as a witness to show that I was illegally pulled over in the first place, had everything he asked for on me, and that most of the tickets he gave me were invalid and illegal. Only one ticket was valid out of all of them.

The LAWYER even said that his main emphasis for representing me was to make sure that I was not bullied by the judge, the prosecuting attorney and the cops. He has enough from me to go on to get all the tickets thrown out. I wish we could persue it further and sue the cops as well.

But this is life. The corrupt legal system that makes money from railroading innocent people. We need a new system.

Please don't stereotype Police officers. The majority is not corrupt but doing a job that we need. They have a hard enough time to keep criminals in jail, once caught, because some judges and defense lawyers are real shyster's and not interested in the truth but money.

That's a huge generalization. I have worked with many police officers over the years, and there are more good ones than bad ones, just like everything else. People hear about illegal aliens, and people assume that every Mexican is here illegally.

One bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bushel.

Officers are given the discretion to cite, give written warning, or verbal warning for traffic offenses, just behave yourself when you get pulled over and don't make a scene and the officer will leave the warning option open, once you start making a scene, the officer will determine that given the choice, you will not comply to traffic code voluntarily and will need a citation to make you comply.......there's no badge or id card.......why would i want to smudge my image by handing my sister-in-law or other family member some type of way to involve me in a moving violation....

Just like every other fasset of life, you are always going to have a select few that go against the grain. Bad seeds get into all types of jobs. The ones that become corrupt, probably do so because of the lure of easy money. Our police officers really do not make the money they deserve. They have a tough job to do, as crazy as this world has become, would you want to be out there chasing down the bad guys? Generalizations like that hurt everybody.

I know the cards are right I've had a few in my days, its BS we recently had a good cop get fired because he gave a ticket to is searges family, they are corrupt because they can be and they all protect each other and the laws protect the cop and we need a new system.

Money. If a cop stops someone from giving u a ticket then that same cop makes some cash off u.
