Why are there so many more people who dislike or hate the police then there are who appreciate them?

Well, let's face it. If a cop comes to see you, it's not usually to tell you what a great citizen you are. They are there to cause you trouble. I'm not saying you don't deserve it when they do, but that's the way it is.

Simply put, I love cops, except when they are pulling me over.

my opinion i hate police they never helped anyone i know ill give you one of many examples my an my friend were walking at this fair and my friend said hey keep up the good work an the cop was like what did you say get the F*** over here now!!! an he walked over i started walkin with him he pulled his gun an was like back up now same cop later came to me an my friends kicked us out for no reason an hit my friend in the head with a flash light when we were walking away report it or not nothing gets done popo is the biggest gang around bigger then the Cripz or bloodz sure there is some out there that are good but thats a rare thing

most of us have bad experiance with the 5-0 (I was almost shot) for no reason, cuz they said I had a weapon.. I don't know..

For most people, the police are only involved in their lives when bad things happen, ie they get busted for a crime, pulled over, interrogated, racially profiled, etc. It is rare that the police are associated with good things in their life.

I blame the rap music because a whole lotta rap songs are dissing the police. And thwyre always callingvthem the pigs, popos, Ect. And I hate the police because in places like nebraska they set upspeed traps in the middle of nowhere because they know that people are going to speed in places where it's safe. I'm not even gonna get darted on that. Just the thought of it makes me red with anger.

Because people are selfish and want what they want. They don't like cops because cops do something selfless, they look out for the best of everyone instead of just one. So until something happens to the people that hate them, they will still hate them.
They hate cops until they have need of one. Anyone who does recognize that life isn't all about themselves will realize that almost all policemen are heroes and deserve the highest respect.
The difference of police to military or firefighters is that, firefighters are only there to stop something from happening to you. Military is not in direct contact with you. Police stop you from crossing the line and others from doing the same thing. That's where people get mad, they want to cross the line with no consequences.

Your premise is incorrect. You assume to much. Most people understand the need to have a law enforcement agency policing the area they live. They also appreciate them. Mainly criminals have issues with law enforcement agencies. Seldom do law abiding citizens.

If you are a scofflaw then I can understand your dislike for police officers.
