Because they are muslims???? If they were white british people protesting at muslims or islam we would be in jail right now.
TIME FOR A CHANGE. |

There is a difference in hoping that he police burn in hell and shouting kill all the cops. The first is a wish and the police have heard it all before, the second is incitement and is intolerable in any society. I think we should be proud that she can do the former without fear. |

I'm not familiar with the situation (I'm assuming from your name that this happened in England), but I would imagine that people in your country still have the right to protest and exercise free speech. |

I am not from Britain, but peaceful protest is part of freedom of speech of a democracy . I know your people have been the target of Muslin violence, I only reply as an out side observer and mean no disrespect to any one. |

Why not eh? Apparently 'forgeiners' mean more to our Country than the English do. |

Freedom of speech.
How many of you lot come on here quoting the old "I hate what you are saying, but I defend your right to say it"
Wearing a burka is not illegal.
Carrying a banner is not illegal.
Suggesting that someone burn in hell, is not illegal.
These women are of course silly bints, but that's not illegal either. They are entitled to protest, and provided they stop short of incitement to crime, or slander can say what they want.
All those of you moaning 'one law for us, one law for them' are looking pretty pathetic. |

Freedom of speech, they can protest as much as they want. So if you want to do something about it when they start protesting or saying that have a group ready to say something back, beat them at their own game its legal and as long as you keep it civil and not throw out any insults or foul words. You will manage to shut them up and look more civil since you werent waving any "burn in hell" signs. |

Ding dong, I'm Sparticus 2.

White, patriotic Christians are no longer wanted in Britain. |

possibly for same reasons they did not arrest the ones protesting in London over cartoons, they are afraid of being branded racist |

I missed hearing about this case... was this in the UK, the US, or a Muslim country?
But I would assume, it was because of free-speech. |
|

Mystery

either they weren't breaking the law
or
the police just 'didn't want to get involved' |

Because they are allowed to spout whatever nasty shite they like......and we are not......due to the moronic p.c. brigade.
Brian C......We are talking about Britain...no 4th amendment here. |

Generally, the larger a crowd, the less arrests.
Even in full scale riots with thousands of people, sometimes only a handful of people are arrested and only because they were excessively violent.
So these women were only verbally protesting - trust me, it is not worth the police department's time to arrest someone who is essentially harmless, with the likelihood of a more dangerous group retaliation (in this case, from the angry Muslims). The cops may sometimes look it, but they really aint stupid. |

Because this country has gone insane...and aslong as you are in an ethnic minority u can get away with bloody anything! |

Obviously because they were Muslim women and the Police have instructions not to inflame situations where Muslims are involved. A woman holding a blank placard in a silent protest was arrested using anti terrorist legislation as an excuse, but she was not of the ethnic persuasion.Little old ladies make an easy target to bump up the figures. |

Because they would have been accused of racism/persecution or Islamophobia if they had. You can't say anything against Islam or an Islamic person without being called an Islamophobe but they can attack us all they like.
I resent police time being wasted to protect them though. They should have taken their chances. The police have better things to do than to protect these losers.
Why do they have to resort to such horrible and vile language as "burn in hell"? Why are they so foul? Can't they protest in a peaceable and adult way? |

I would need more details. The police were probably trying to avoid an incident that the media would whip up into a frenzy. |

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS. Just like the hand on the bible, the ten commandments. Liberals are being WAY to tolerant of the minorities. |

I think the answer rsides in your question.
One rule for the many another for the privileged few.
Tory and Labour are much the same and they will do nothing to change these problems.
Vote for a party that will not tolerate such aggression and recalcitrant non-assimilation against the native, and highly accommodating/hospitable majority. |

In this country - Thank god - we have the right of freedom of speech
we have the right to demonstrate peacefully, without fear of being attacked for our beliefs
Now, genius, what part of those rights would you take away? |

It's called the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. It happens to cover free speech, which anyone inside this nation is entitled to. Do I have to like the message? No. Do I have to protect their right to convey the message? Yes.
Cylon: Didn't realize it was Britain, disregard my answer. |

I don't know.
If they had been non-Muslim and yelling the same things, would you say the same?
That aside I don't have all the facts, neither do you by all accounts, so I can't comment. The Police will do what they think is best and we can't change that.
And it's ABAYA ;-] |
