Wow, what a lousy attempt to make people who believe in the 2nd ammendment look like whacko's.
Even if this was true you cant drive while holing it in your hand, when the police come, especially when your drunk they are going to confiscate it but will give it back if its yours.
And its not your god given right, its just your constitutional right. |

Hmmm...sounds to me like you may still be under the influence.
It's not a "God given right" to own a weapon but a Constitutional Right! |

because you were drunk you fool, and who knows what you might do with a gun.... I am pro gun rights all the way but i think it's perfectly plausible for them to confiscate your gun. |

Because when you are arrested all of your belongings are taken and cataloged. Once you are convicted of the DUI if no one was injured you may still have your right to a firearm. However, if someone was injured and you are charged with and convicted of a felony your rights to firearms will be taken away. |

Standard procedure during an arrest. They figure if you're dumb and irresponsible enough to get a DUI, you're dumb enough to use the gun improperly. |

Probably so they wouldn't have to get you for SUI, shooting while intoxicated. |

Many states have a law that makes it a crime, if you go armed while intoxicated. |

driving under the influence and enforcing- a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT that states that you have the right to bear arms is pretty much looked at in better light when you are not under the influence and brandishing the firearm at the same time. it is you God given right to eat sleep Sh^& and live but not to possess a weapon while in condition that could be fatal or harmful to others. did you legally own the gun? was it a registered gun? in any case- you are lucky all you got charged with was a dui |

You may own it but showing it is irresponsible while your driving. If you have a concealed license than it will probably be revoked.Since your action showed your not in control of yourself it best the police take and keep it so you don't harm yourself.Have fun in court.
I carry and that was not a good move on your part.
God gives you NO rights. |

DUH! You are an accident waiting to happen and hopefully you won't kill someone when it happens. There is no so called god given right to own a gun, there is only a civil right that was granted to you by the 2nd amendment but in order to exercise that right you have obey all the other laws and driving drunk with a firearm in your hand is no obeying the law and they should throw you under the jail not just confiscate your weapon. |

Seriously? The only time it's legal to have a gun in the car is if it's in a box or (for hunting) in the shotgun rack. We can't even use our cell phones now. You shouldn't have been driving drunk, I may be dumb for smoking but at least I didn't get arrested for a DWI. |

Some answers may seem ignorant.....yes...but the fact of the matter is, many police officers carry their weapons while intoxicated. Does that make them above ALL people. Yes, some people don't have good judgement, and others do... That's not all-inclusive only in the law-enforcement community. I know alot of non-officers that have much more restraint than veteran police-officers. You can't look at things that narrowly people...come-on... |
