Your facts are off, but given that a greater percentage of blacks are serving time in prison than account for the general population, here is the answer.

True blacks make up 13% of the population, but 90% of the black population live below the poverty level.

Whites make up 58% of the population, but only 23% of the white population live below the poverty level.

While 98% of those persons, any race, who are convicted and serving time in prison lived below the poverty level before being convicted. This leads to the answer that most do not want to hear, it is not race that dictates criminal behavior but income levels. The reason this is not brought out too much in public is because being poor is not a protected class of population that the ACLU can sue for.

They dont make up 60% of the crimes. This is america and thats just the american way. But you should also be specific. Crime is placed in many forms. Blacks do different crimes while whites do different crimes too. We do more homicide charges by a few percent while you whites rape more little girls and boys. This question is stupid. This will just stir up a lot of trouble. But to be honest if you're talking about why do black do the crimes that they are statistically the highest on is because lots of us (not all of us, not me either) who grow up in the city feels as if we need to be as cool as the next person. For example a drug dealer is "cool" but it gives the little idiot who has a fully functional married family with over 100k a year salary put together. You would then ask yourself why does that 15 year old boy with a fully functional family wanna deal drugs and KILL another person (true story). The truth is he wanted respect from the wrong crowd. It was once said "there is no such thing as a gangster with a choice." Meaning that there are people who do this stuff because there mom had them when they were 14 year of age and has no steady income in the house. Therefore that black guy will deal drugs just to eat food. In the drug dealing community there is a lot of killing going on. People want to be at the top of the triangle. I spoke alot. Sadly to say this is only a fraction of what goes on. All-in-all we need to get rid of the look of popularity that goes out to the bad people and that will shave off a good portion of the completely unnecessary crimes that goes out between young african americans. All of these crimes are young think of it. The kids are stupid. This is coming from a 19 year old.

1) Statistically Blacks were reported up to 1980's in the arrests as anyone not white.
Thus a lot of statistics show a Mexican, American Indian, Middle Easterner, Oriental as Black.

2) Because many whites have better lawyers, or can afford a better lawyer, to beat the rap.

You could learn a great deal from taking a course in criminology rather than pulling random "statistics" from your head. Whites were arrested at 67% for white collar crime, including embezzlement, fraud and forgery/counterfeiting. There are demographics that will explain crime for you and you will be better informed. These crimes matter, too, as we have seen on Wall Street, insurance companies and banks. There are different types of crimes and different types of criminals.

JamesL - I am familiar with the city. I know three good people who were crime victims there in three different crimes and got out! Two moved out of the state! The city has so much to offer. Too bad they won't clean it up. People get tired of begging them to clean it up! It just gets worse. Every corner seems to have a store..... well you know!
