Why do people who resist arrest by running and fighting with the cops not expect......................

to get pummeled?! ( o _ 0 ) I'm like hello?! Albeit excessive force is just wrong. Using the "appropriate" amount of force usually works? I guess that various amongst the authorities? What do you think?

Exactly!
I also agree excessive force is just wrong!
But when you decide to resist or flee you have just UPPED the ante and are begging for a beat down.
Your actions scream I AM GUILTY OF SOMETHING BAD OR I WOULDN'T BE FLEEING/RESISTING.
When I grew up the cops could shoot you for running away and guess what..fewer people ran and those that did and got shot thereby improved the IQ averages of the rest of us.
ahhhhhh..good times....

Contrary to popular belief, sometimes perps do get away from the police! Granted, they are eventually found because most perps that run from the police are the type that will continue committing crimes......

Bad idea unless you like being tasered.

Cuz they think they'll either get away, or they'll try to claim abuse by the cops - it's not that they don't EXPECT to get pummeled. They know that they'll probably GET AWAY WITH whatever they did BECAUSE they got pummeled.

Yeah, they should have made a run for the border sooner.

People are either stupid, crazy, on drugs, or some combination of the above. That's why they fight with the police. By the way Jack J, Chuck Norris actually IS a reserve police officer in Terrell, TX.

Those that resist arrest shouldn't expect to be treated very nice. Those that resist by assaulting an officer, should expect even worse.

Despite what television tells you, sometimes people DO escape from the police.
Also, if the arrest is unjustified, you are within your rights to defend yourself.
There is a case going on where I live where a guy took a picture of cops arresting someone (just a PICTURE for crying out loud) and the cops started to beat the guy up saying he was endangering their lives with that photo. The guy fought the cops and it was determined that he was within his right to defend himself from them, since they were violating his civil rights.

I have only been arrested once, and that was fro being drunk, and stupider than stupid. I had already picked a fight with a 50000Lb solid brick Bouncer, who pounded what few brains I had out of me, I knew better than try again with a Cop ! I was happy to be away from the Bouncer !
