two students walking down the street, as they pass a police officer (who was masked) he sprays them in the face with pepper spray,it was completely unprovoked and if I can find the link I will make an edit. Then there was the student who was tasered in front of John Kerry, although he was being annoying and rude he was tasered while 4-6 police officers were pinning him down. Just type "police brutality" in Youtube and you will find many other examples.

The reason they act like that is because they are dealing with "Thugs" If you wan't to act like a "Thug" Get treated like one.If you didn't already know there is a war going on in our streets.the war on drugs. And thats why so many people are getting shot they are getting murked over drugs. And most of the thugs the cops deal with have guns so they aren't taking chances with anyone. They are people just like you and me.But the reason they are cracking down on thugs is because they wan't to clean up the streets and so they can go home at the end of their shift.Do you wan't to get shot by a trigger happy punk loitering at 711? probably not the cops don't wan't to either thats why they aren't playing fair.If it was a little bit more like back 10 maybe 20 years ago when people showed the police more respect and nobody was on this stop snitching **** it would be easier.Back 10 to 20 years ago people where playing more fair and showed the cops more respect. Now there are still the majority who show respect but there are the law breakers who do not and they are just making the job that much harder by not cooperating and not showing respect to the men and women who protect our communities. But there are so many"thugs" running around it's getting kind of hard to decide which ones are for real and which ones are just posers.Where I live if you tilt your hat a certain way and if you do this or that you could get shot. And now The punks start **** with the cops too!.If you start **** with the cops expect to get pummeled. That video was probably one sided like all the other videos like it on the net. They just aren't going to mase you.The person who got it was probably starting **** but the video didn't show it.It's one sided.**** with the police and get ****** up.Thats a fact.jusy my 2 cents. |

So, your judgement is based on a few moronic youtube vids? and you judge hundred of thousands of cops on that. Thanks for being another in a long list of moronic posters.
Using this logic
blacks all kill people
whites are all pedophiles
latinos are all drug smugglers
asians all eat dogs and cats while torturing their neighbors
muslims all like cutting off heads and raping little girls
has it sunk in yet? |

ok.
I'm starting to get sick of this. People like you are infesting the Yahoo Answers boards with stupid questions like this saying "all cops are abusing their powers" and such things. The Florida student got tased, yes, why? Because he wasn't following orders given to him. He was not acting appropriately; He was being removed for that. I don't know if you had your volume up or not, but I heard the officers give him several warnings to "Stop resisting" "Put your hands behind your back" "Stop resisting or you will be tased" etc. He was tased so the officers would not have to risk their own safety fighting him. What if the guy had a knife on him, and the cops physically forced him to comply, and what if he got the knife out and stabbed one or two of the officers before he was shot? The taser was designed for these situations, where they have a suspect not complying and to avoid injury to anyone else, they taser the suspect.
As for the lady that was leading an officer on a pursuit for 8 miles. She shouldn't be driving, period! If you want to get to a more populated area (or at least use that as an excuse) don't pull over 8 miles farther down the same road. She wasn't complying; she could have been reaching for a gun, or something of the sort. The only reason, and I mean ONLY reason the result may have even ended like it did is because there was a brief part where you could see him screaming at her while she was already in hand cuffs. That is the ONLY reason that he could've even been considered of losing his job, and he must have had a history of doing this in the past. So please ask yourself this, why didn't she pull right over? Why did she waste police resources for no reason? Why risk the lives of everyone on the road? Why risk the Officer's life? Lets say there was a police shooting going on close to the officer that was chasing her, and he was the closest to respond, he wouldn't be able to cause he was busy chasing her. However, if she would have stopped he would more than likely went to the shooting after the traffic stop. Oh, and for this hypothetical story, he wouldn't stop chasing her because what if she just shot someone in her family or something, or was some how even involved in the officer shooting?
Why didn't he listen? Why didn't the lady in the car stop before she drove another eight miles?
Those are the questions you SHOULD be asking. |

"Don't Taze me Bro!" deseved to get tased.
The female nursing student caused a pursuit for 8 miles. Why? Yeah, she deserved to get yanked from the car.
Let's see the last one.
Please don't try to say the cop was fired and the woman won a settlement. Civil courts only have to show 51% for proof. That's why OJ is walking around with a 36 million judgement.
You know, we could let people do whatever they want and stand back and watch!! How long do you think you would last before your family is raped and killed?

i'm no fan of john kerry, but anyway, that boy should have been tasered, he was not cooperating with police, and if you can't respect the office of the person speaking and answering questions, you should be removed and not allowed to make a scene. they should have tasered him a couple more times, i bet he listens next time cops tell him to do something, (probably not because he's an idiot). and i'm no cop. |

Ah, on youtube, that's all right then, means the whole police force anywhere must be like what you allege . . . |

People like you think that all police are bad people out to get you. Police officers are just doing their job. In the John Kerry case, the kid deserved to get tasered. Lets look at the facts here:
1. When the student was over his time limit on his question he was asked politley by the officers to step down from the mic.
2. When he refused to shut his mouth they physically removed him
3. When he did not walk out of the auditorium on his own one of the officers decided to pick him up and carry him out
4. When that still did not work they used the tazer.
The student did not follow the police officer's orders so he got tasered. The police officers did what they needed to do in order to get the student under control. When the student did not follow orders he was tasered. No on to the nursing student. The nursing student let the officer on an 8 mile chase. In the video it later says that she said that she did not belive that he was a cop and she wanted to find a more populated area. First of all if someone is following you in a car that says 'police' in big letters and there are blue flashing lights there is almost a 100% chance that there is a cop behind you. And, it does not take 8 miles to find a more polulated area. When the police officer told her to get out of her car she didnt. When she didnt get out of her car on her own he did it for her. All she walked away with was a few bruises...big deal. Now she has thousands of dollars becuase she didnt do what she was told to do.
In both of these cases the police are not at fault, the criminals are. The student at UF deserved every volt of electrictiy that ran through his body. I even think that he needs a few thousand more.
So, my point is follow the law= the police wont have a reason to hurt you. Simple as that. |

what is the point in answering you only see what you want to see. Who would put as video of a cop taking an old lady across the road or helping someone in a crash? that's boring. you want to see the evil in everything and believe that the world is against you.
As for 6 on one, it is strangely enough safer for the suspect if done correctly. A one on one fight means someone gets hurt, generally badly hurt to ensure compliance. 6 on 1 means the suspect is held down and controlled without as much force being needed. Some do exceed the limit some get hurt, but generally out of the thousands arrested most walk to the car and police station and leave in the same state the arrived in.
How do you know what the student had done previously when the officer sprayed him with pepper spray? I have two friends who were attacked by a man with a knife. he tried to stab them and the officers that turned up. He ran off. Next officer to see him put him on his ****. no questions no introductions. Why? cause he wanted to go home and not be stabbed by a nut job. If you saw that last section of the incident on video you would say the officer attacked an innocent man, but you would not know the whole story.
Somethings are wrong. Some take the power too far, but who are you to judge based on a few minutes of film?
If you want to judge walk a mile in their shoes. |

Whilst I don`t condone police violence. I do agree with the way the American police are allowed to get on with their jobs of arresting criminals and the courts do their jobs by handing out stiff sentences. Unlike the UK where the criminal it seems is protected by our stupid laws and laughable sentencing.
And prison these days is a fecking holiday, thanks to the `human-rights` idiots!
I remember the 2nd youtube video - on CNN it was reported that the Officer was fired from his job. |

I have two Grandsons in the New York Police and my Son in law has just retired as a Detective. All carry guns but my son in law never used his once in 37yrs. Do not paint the American system as bad as regards their Police, as they do a lot better job than the ones over here....that is if you ever see one on the Streets. ! They in turn have to be out on the Street as they say its their job to keep them safe for the public. New York has been cleaned up now and all buildings that housed criminals have been emptied and the drug people put in prison. If they have done wrong over there its prison for them..not letting them out either until they have served their full term. Maybe that should be the law over here... |

There are criminals in every facet of life. People just whine more when they are cops. If 4 civilians tasered someone you probably would never hear about it. |

what u gotta realise is the police in the states think they are the rulers of the people when they are supose to protect and "serve" the people . alot of police have been in the army and served in iraq they treat the american people as if they are all suspected enemy compatants and most genuinely think they are doing the right thing by doing what they do .
theres another video about where a women calls an ambulance because her husband is having some sort of fit the police turn up and it ends up with 6 bpolice officers taking the man into a cell u can hear the guy saying dont kill me they taze him and the guy dies .
also it is a big power trip being able to do what u want and know pretty much u can get away with anything , but like i say alot of the time they think there in the right and have been taught that anyone who exercises there rights is a terrorist . |

I can see both sides you don't know had this cop been shot at recently had a friend killed he was taking no chances but yes he did not take in to consideration lone female etc but she should of got out of the car asap and she did commit an offense.I also watched the skater boys if any thing that is far more disturbing and at one point he threatens to pepper spray the young lad filming even though he is completly compliant I do sometimes wonder if the police realise that this is why people are loosing respect for them. |

mostly because they are afraid. they are a mob mentality, only brave when they are in a bunch.. they think fear breeds respect.
most are basically egotistical fools that think a gun and a badge makes them a man..
what the fail to realise is they are held in contempt not respect and if it came to an all out fight they would loose hands down if the public fought them..
finally i think because they choose to dress and act like Nazis they are taking on the persona and they are not held responsible for their actions so they do as they please.
good point globel surveyor here's a star mate..
OH LOOK THEIR MUST BE COPS READING THIS GIVEING EVRYONE BAD RATEINGS.. OH SO SAD YOU GUYS ARE. YOUR A JOKE..LOL |
