"Pigs" can be traced back to the 1500's where it was a term used to describe a generally disliked person.

No one has come up with a specific origin for "fuzz", but it agreed it came from the 60's when hippie cultures were commonly coming up with new slang terms.

Both terms are derogatory and show lack of respect. Most Police Officers are decent, honest guys and are condemned because of a few rotten apples which is totally unfair.

Dunno but it's out of order. They risk their lives daily and have a damn difficult job to do. Fully respect um myself.

They all started out as slang, gang or hippy terms to describe the police, so that they could speak about them without them knowing. The police in each occasion, caught on and know know most of them

These people who call them pigs have no respect for them. I personally respect them because they are doing a fantastic job.

these people don't have any respect for the police. they provide a good service. you go for it. i would like to join the police force but am overweight and not fit enough unfortunately

Big Juice
"Pigs" is derived from the man who came up with the police, Rob Peel. Robert Peeler was in charge when he came up with the force, and people who worked for him were called "Peels Pigs".

The phrase "The Fuzz" is commonly derived from the U.S movie Boyz In The Hood, where the men in it used to say "Look, here comes The Fuzz"

Don't know about the fuzz but pigs originated in the 1960s.The Black Panthers printed comic books with pictures of the police as pigs.I remember seeing these comic books on the television news.It really was disgusting. The term caught on unfortunately.Police are called cops or coppers because in the late 1800s their badges were made from copper. As a kid in the Fifties,my friends and I would stand on street corners and wait until the police drove by.We'd yell "pennies are made out of dirty coppers" and run away as fast as we could. It was a kid thing.

Because they have no respect for authority or anything else, something that's severely lacking in this country.

I would get used to being called much more then just pig or fuzz!

Good luck with the application!

Because they are ignorant ,just like they stop on bus lanes to feed there faces in takeaways, because they block roads for no reason, because they dont care if your house gets broke in to,because they speed in patrol cars for no reason at all, because if your stranded they will just leave you there, because if your assaulted they will nick you for self defence, because if you break down they will issue you with a ticket, because yhey can drink and drive but you cant,,,,,any more reasons ? Apart from that there ok i suppose

I-like-to-answer-you
slang isn't it, i assume pigs came from the stereotype of police eating donuts

Jewels
in my opinion its because people see cops as those who like to eat all the time which would make them pigs. now that they have a new law stating that cops have to be at a certain weight criteria they had to come up with another thing to call them. people call them the fuzz because they say it ruins all the fun for criminals. all the names that you hear people calling the cops is just slang. if you dont mind me asking why are you wanting to become a cop??
