Why do some police officers go to bars and get drunk and drive, but we can't.?

Police officers can't drink and drive either. You say in your post that "I swear they go out and get hammered and don't even think twice." "They get hammered and do shots just like anyone else." "Then the next night they are out stopping people for drunk driving???"

You never once say that you see them out drinking and driving . You only say that there is a bar down the road that is a cop bar where they get drunk every night. Cops are people too and like to consume alcohol like everyone else. Maybe they do this with a designated driver. Maybe they call a cab. Maybe they live within walking distance. You are assuming that cause they are in a bar and drunk that they also drive home.

Now to support you a little bit. Yes some cops do go out and drink and drive, but again like in so many other post this is a very small amount of police officers. There are good cops and there are bad cops. Not saying that a cop that drinks and drives is a "Bad Cop", but that he made a bad decision. The first thing alcohol clouds is your judgment, even a cops.

If that officer was to drive home and and was to be stopped by another officer, he is subject to the law just like everyone else. Now before you say no we are not look at your own post where you stated "Oh by the way a drunken poplice officer killed a young man in St. Louis County last year in a car accident at 3:00am." This proves officers are subject to the same laws. Otherwise this article would never have been written. In my own town we had an officer go out, get drunk, go driving, get caught, get charged, and got fired.

You post "Are cops the only ones who can go out and have a good time anymore?" I feel I must point out that you associate having fun with Drinking and Driving. Agin it is perfectly fine to go out drinking, but find a sober way home. Evidently from your statement that is not an option for you and therefore you can't go out and drink either.

I have never driven drunk. If an officer is caught driving while intoxicated, they will more then likely get a DWI like everyone else. And unlike everyone else, aside from any punishment a court may hand out, an officer will likely also lose his job.

A lot of people, not just police officers, don't practice what they preach. I think for some of them, it's a game of seeing how much they can get away with. Make no mistake though, some of them do get caught and are punished (two actually in my city in the past couple of weeks were pulled over for DUI). I also know plenty of people (who aren't cops) who have managed to talk their way out of DUIs when they are obviously drunk.

By the way, as a girlfriend of a cop and daughter of another, I must ask what a 'cop loving groupie' is.

I've never drove when I have been intoxicated in the least bit. Except for Mario Cart. Why don't you report it to someone in the department as opposed to whining about it here?

Yeah, some Officers have tried to cover for another. Few get away with it. But most of the time, both ended up getting S***canned from their job.

No, they're not allowed to but it does happen. Many, but not all, police don't partake or encourage these actions.

Because the pigs have a blue wall to protect them. They are above the law. I suggest slashing their tires while their inside getting drunk. That way at least they won't be able to drive too fast.

Same reason why they can drive like Jeff Gordon in their personal cars and will never get a ticket!! I call it the God complex. Not that all police are like this, but a whole hell of alot of them are.

I have never drove drunk.

Anyone that does needs to be arrested. I know of several officers that have been arrested and convicted of DWI. I personally arrested a Reserve Officer back in 1992 (or maybe it was 1993) for DWI.

Your question makes it sound like we do this all the time. If an officer makes a bad decision then they will reap what they sow.

Police Officer's are just people, like us! The only hold they have is protect and Serve! Did you really think that meant us?
It is the many of them that can't help flexing their power at you or mistakenley join the force thinking they, themselves can make a difference. Well, there isn't enough of the honest one's to make a difference. And yes, it is money also. Not the cop's, but the goverment they work for. They collect their money for the town they live in.
And go ahead a drink! It causes your liver to land you in the hospital, so you are paying one way or another! No One has a right behind the wheel of a car after they have been drinking! It also causes you to age quicker! Answer for that? Oh, sure, you could got get some plastic surgery, but hey! That causes you to spend more money!
So, tell me, do you think it is having fun getting wasted and preying to the porcolin God? Umm, no thanks! Not for me. I am a happy person.

Why people try driving while they're drunk, I'll never know....

I was drunk only once in my entire life and I'm 28. When I was drunk I knew where my keys were and even then while I was drunk and staggering, I knew how foolish it'd be to risk it.

hmm...i think you made a point there..but NOT ALL COPS ARE BAD MOST ARE GOOD AND FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES BUT THEN YOU GET THE VERY FEW WHO ARE SLACKERS!.i dont know but they DO need to start practicing what they preach SOME COPS DO break rules but and feel like they can do whatever they want and they wont get arested because they r cops but thats just dumb and the rules should apply to EVERYONE expecially thecops because a lot of little chhildren look up to them

I know some cops are good and work hard and are really out to help people but the majority are either criminals themselves or are too lazy to do anything, some are even stupid.

I recently had someone drive into my grandmas house. Did the police even try to figure out who did it? No, the guy even left parts of his car behind but they didn't try to identify what vehicle it came off of. We spend 2 hours driving to dealerships to find out what it came off of to give the news a vehicle description. On the way we saw several cops pulling people over for seatbelt violations... they get paid for that though, hunting down real criminals doesn't have any money in it. When whoever drove into my grandmas house is out driving drunk next time and they hit someone and kill an innocent person, I blame the police because they had an opportunity to get them off the street but they didn't even try. Then, on the news the police said they were continuing their investigation.... they never started an investigation, I was the one who rode around town tracking down the vehicle type. They could have done that, it isn't hard. Thanks to my work and my family's work we have an accurate vehicle description, no thanks to the cops. It is easier, safer and more profitable to fine people over technicalities than actual wrongdoing.

a few years ago some shirtless hooligan ran through my grandparents backyard and was hiding in the neighbors bushes, a very suspicious act don't you agree? We called the cops and told them someone was sneaking around on private property... 45 minutes later one fat cop showed up, of course the guy was long gone by this time. Did they think he would wait around an hour until they got there? Even if he were there, what is one tub of lard cop going to do? That guy could barely walk, there was no way he is going to be jumping fences to chase down criminals. Cops need to be held to more strict physical guidelines... they need to be fit.

I almost died the other night when a State Police Officer arrested me and then drove me to the State Police Station in (I'll tell you later )PA. He drove like a crazy man, going above 75mi./hr. through a gauntlet of turns!!Speed limit-45mph. When I said, Hey you already got me, what's the hurry, he accelerated faster with reckless abandoment!!!! He was out of contol and I feared for my life and possibly others!!!! This is a very TRUE STORY and I feel responsible to expose him before he kills somebody because if he does, I will have to live with the fact that I did nothing to stop him!!!!!! He is a man with a badge that makes all of the good cops look really BAD, all because his swollen EGO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He needs to be taken off the road before it is to late !!!! I would really appreciate feedback A.S.A.P !!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS TO THOSE WHO CARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
