Because it's good television. I doubt they would receive great network ratings if they showed "Cops the untold story" and just focused on law enforcement officers cursing for every compliant arrest that generated loads of paperwork. |

I agree with bill blasphemy-fight or flight. What do they have to lose? There in a lot of trouble anyway, why not try and get away? I like the show. It shows me how many idiots are out there and gives me a deeper respect for people who try to catch the bad guy. |

For the same reason they try to use the same old hackneyed excuse, "I was AFRAID!" Poor widdle boys, almost wet their pants. But ONLY when they were getting caught.
The fight or flight argument doesn't work, when many of them are only facing a misdemeanor charge, and they elevate it to felony status by running. |
