Becuase a warrant is issued and signed by a judge and in that warrant the judge say Arrest this person when found.

Most times warrants are for failure to appear meaning they have already missed court when it was left up to their own to show up.

The other reason is that the judge wants them booked/processed in for the charge and given a court date for their offense.

Some warrants (most in fact) have a bond on them and after being booked on the warrant they person can post the bond get a new court date and go on their way.

Because there has already been some kind of legal action taken that requires them to be put in jail. Once in jail, another hearing will be held.....and the system kicks in from there.

First off you dont just go directly to jail. You are first cuffed and informed of what is going to happen. Next the warrent is confirmed and then you go to jail.

Because there's a warrant out for their arrest. That means "arrest this person if you find them".

If they just let them go, then a warrant for an arrest means nothing.

And they don't issue warrants unless you've violated the law and haven't complied with the court (or were indicted and they are looking for you).

Anytime you serve a warrant, it is considered an arrest. The first thing you need to do is document that arrest. You do this by booking the person, which is done at the jail.

Even if the warrant has a bond, and the person arrested has the bond money in their possession, they still need to be booked on the arrest before they are allowed to post the bond.

Because having a warrant = going to jail when you are located.

A warrant is put out for you because you did something and the police have shown the court probable cause to arrest you, but can't find you, or, you were issued a summons (a promise to appear in court) previously and failed to show up.

why wouldn't they? if there is a warrant for their arrest, they're arrested.

when a warrant is put out for someones arrest, the terms of the warrant are to 'arrest on contact. do not ask questions. arrest immediately'

Usually you'll get a warrant for not showing up for court. It means you had your chance to be good and be responsible and face the music for what you did originally but you SCREWED IT UP. So now, they have to drag you before the judge.

Because they get arrested. Isn't it obvious?

because they Have A Warrant For Their Arrest. It's the law, they broke the law, went to court, made an agreement to come back and take care of the their case And Then ...they didn't show up. hence...the warrant.

the reason for the warrent is because the person did not appear in court when they were supposed to or did not pay a traffic ticket. if they don't take that person to jail right away that person most likely will not show up again and it may take a long time to catch that person again.

Jefe'
so they will know where to find you.

Lisa
I can't knock the ticket system too much considering how many dangerous criminals have been caught during or shortly after a traffic stop.

Your question answers itself ("...have a warrant out for his/her arrest")
The officer is executing the warrant. Although, an issue could arise if the warrant was issued by a different jurisdiction (another state, etc.). Kind of depends on what jurisdiction issued it and where pulled over. But the basic answer is b/c there's an outstanding arrest warrant.
